Hidden Gems: Meet Ralphiel Marshall of West World Music Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ralphiel Marshall.

Hi Ralphiel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
First off, I go by the name Rif-Raf The Great. I was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Now currently residing in Riverside, CA where I have lived for ten years. I was raised by a single mom, cousins, uncles, and eventually the streets. I began to drift toward the lifestyle my cousins and uncles were living. My family background was strong with musical talent and was heavily connected to the streets and the music industry. I started getting involved with the streets and witnessing things most people wouldn’t see in their entire lifetime. Years later, after a few run-ins with the law and the numerous deaths of family members and friends, I made a promise to my grandmother before she passed that I would get back into music and restructure my life. With the guidance from my two cousins who has produced music for a few old school artist, they gave me the knowledge and support to get back into music. Now here I am 12 years later, the owner of my music production label/recording studio West World Music Group, and my publishing company Far-Fir Publishing. As my presence started growing on social media, I began to do collaborations with some local artists from LA and the IE (Inland Empire). I also began to collab with other artists from other states that I met on an online radio/tv station show called Time2Grind Radio, hosted by former Def Jam artist Big 7, who has the number one online radio station in New Jersey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Being independent is a challenge within itself, especially when certain family members and friends don’t see your vision or share your passion for the love of music. The struggle for me, in the beginning, was having the time to do music and have time for my family. Most relationships don’t go well when the other person in the relationship doesn’t believe in you and they feel you are wasting yours and their time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
West World Music Group is an independent recording studio/ music production/record label that specializes in documentaries, films, tv, and business presentations. I also do mixing, mastering, audio editing, audio restoration, vocal tunning, voice-overs, global distribution, and custom music production.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
Risk-taking is part of the game. Without risk, there is no reward. You are a brand no matter what level you are on and as a brand, you have to put yourself out there and take all criticism whether it is good or bad, but you have to know what your doing when your taking risk. Me personally, I’m a risk-taker and I can handle everything that comes along with it. I spent my whole life taking risks to reach where I am today.
