Hi Marché, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began acting at a young age and set my mind in my teens that I would move to LA and make my wildest dreams to become a well-known entertainer happen. I made the move to Los Angeles from Texas in 2015 and hit the ground running creating; performing in theatre productions, improv shows, and doing mostly commercials around the city. I hopped right into acting classes hooked up with an agent…booked background roles and small one-liners here and there. After a while, the acting gigs slowed up a bit and I was divinely hooked up with some amazing content creators. I became a part of a team of hard-working, funny people and started writing and producing my own comedic content for YouTube. After doing it as an assignment in an acting class, I booked my first paid stand-up comedy gig at the Comedy Union and was blessed to add ‘comedian’ to my list of talents. Honesty, I really feel like my steps have been ordered by God. Today, I’m thankful for a growing following on my channel and I’m super excited to share the content that I’m working on and acting in currently.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
What road is smooth?! I tell you this Hollywood business ain’t no joke. Honestly, I feel that as a Black woman, pursuing acting and comedy is a crazy experience. You are constantly trying to please certain groups of people, I mean, as a creator you want people to watch you, enjoy what you create, and as an actress you always have that pressure on you to be good…to be funny…to be beautiful…to be sexy, but not intimidating, but not a push over…etc. I’ve struggled so much with just trusting myself, trusting my instinct, and the more I do, I feel like the more successful I am becoming. All of this shit is a journey honestly, so I’m here for the ride at this point.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think at this point, most people know or recognize me from my comedy and sketches on YouTube. I act in so many great artists’ skits, am featured on a bunch of viral pages, and recently started my own YouTube page. What sets me apart is that my content is super relatable, and let’s be frank — FUNNY, lol. I make funnies on the internet. Everyday chronicles of life that I feel like people in all walks of life can relate to.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Oh, I will beat the pavement. What I mean by that is, I honestly feel my determination to keep creating no matter what is what ultimately will make and keep me successful. You have to be persistent in this game. It’s a world full of ‘no’s’ and I take every opportunity I can to create something and showcase my acting.
