Conversations with Shawn Richardz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Richardz.

Hi Shawn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I would describe myself as a multi-hyphenated talent that was born with the love and respect for the arts; some of my favorite legendary role models and icons are Eartha Kitt, Tina Turner, Lucille Ball, and Carol Burnett. Being a native New Yorker, my artistic journey started with off Broadway and national commercials which fueled me to Los Angeles. Always fan of good weather, adventures, and all year around rollerskating I knew Los Angeles would be a perfect fit. As an actor with an interest in everything from civil rights, women’s rights, relationships, and the silly and sometimes mindless Hollywood gossip it serendipitously gives me the constant character study. I have had the pleasure of being a host on camera, online podcasts, and live radio events. I have worked with and interviewed some amazing people. Performing and working as a creative talent also includes voiceovers whether that be documentary narration, announcer, audio dramas, commercials, and educational tools and devices. You can always expect to see me and hear me in campaigns as well as your favorite television show and film delivering the most dramatic and comedic lines. Being a multi-hyphenated talent is something that I’m proud of and I feel gives constantly to universal thoughts and emotions. Entertainment contributes in so many ways to people’s lives and I’m happy to be a contributor in some way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road as a creative professionally can be constantly frustrating whether it’s the financial instability; or the constant highs and lows emotionally you ride. Sometimes you are working and sometimes when you are the thick of not working. The mental challenges of being on tunnel vision mode and staying positive all the while you are attempting keeping yourself inspired is the challenge and lead you into being confronted with obstacles.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Theatre will always be my favorite adrenaline rush. As an actor, I really miss it, in the traditional sense, months before the world changed I did an original piece at the Santa Monica Playhouse and I got to play God. That character alone was something so special to me because it reminded me that in theatre the characters are so special and layered and no performance is ever the same.

What does success mean to you?
Success is so multi-layered for me; my health, my family’s health, my happiness, and home-filled love and coziness along with the freedom to earn a living doing what I love is success. With that being said, this definition is constantly changing and I love stability so add some entertainment endorsements and contracts that include constant workflow that will nail it perfectly and cement what I define success as.
