Check Out Niko’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Niko.

Hi Niko, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was and raised in Milan, Italy, and since I can remember my dream was to make music. I grew up in a household where the radio was always on and listening to Madonna, Britney Spears and George Michael. As a teenager, I formed a band and started performing in local venues in Milan. I eventually signed with a label and flew to the UK to work with producers in London and Manchester on his debut album. The project never saw the light of day. So I moved to the US to find my luck in NYC. After a couple of years there, I finally landed in LA – where I found my sound. Los Angeles inspires me greatly, and I’m now working on my upcoming releases. My music is inspired by European pop but immersed in the California sunshine.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Following your dream is never easy! I’ve had many challenges over the years. I was signed to music labels and (both times) I thought I had made it, but it didn’t end up working. I am now an independent artist, and that comes with its own set of challenges: I’m not only a songwriter, but I have to be my own label, manager, and publicist! It’s tiring and very hard at times, but I know I just have to keep pushing and being creative. Success and recognition will follow.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My name is NIKO and I’m an artist making pop music inspired by my European upbringing and immersed in the California sunshine. I have just released my latest single Idol, a song that talks about wanting to be seen and heard. It is also an exploration of the concept of fame, but it mostly can be interpreted as the need for love – the desire to be somebody’s somebody. Sonically, the song is influenced by 90’s dance and house music, and artists like Robyn and Years & Years.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
My favorite food is… salad.
