Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Stringer.
Hi Renee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was going through the police academy at the time and I wanted to get an advantage on training. Krav Maga was recommended to me. I love the intensity and that it focuses on defending yourself while quickly and effectively devastating your opponent. I later became a Krav Maga self-defense instructor and at that time, I was teaching gun defense and a student started asking me questions about firearms. I didn’t have the answers. So while I was researching the answers, I realized I wanted to become a firearms instructor as well. I felt it should be my responsibility to teach students how to use a firearm, how it functions, and the responsibilities of owning a firearm. If I’m teaching them how to take away a gun for self-defense. The community inspired me. By allowing me to do what I love, helping people. Everyone goes through tough times. When you support people and encourage them through these times, you’ll be inspiring them to see the best in themselves. It’s a very rewarding job knowing you empowered students not to become a victim. Seeing students walk out of my class feeling confident knowing they can make a split-second decision to defend themselves and their loved ones. So in 2014, I started my own company Lioness Tactics. I choose a lioness because she is tactical and strategic. She studies her enemies but doesn’t fight indiscriminately. She chooses her battles to preserve her strength. If a predator decides to cross her boundaries she will use her RAOR to spell out the consequences and is prepared to carry them out.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road for me. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. There are not many women in this industry and when you are trying to carve out your niche, you have to be willing to get out there and expose yourself to training. You must accept critique and if you surround yourself with good people, there is so much to learn. You become valued and respected. I work hard to be a role model as I move forward in this industry.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Lioness Tactics is a female-owned company. Providing instruction that covers critical thinking about self-defense strategies, assertiveness, powerful communication skills, and easy-to-remember physical techniques that enable someone to successfully escape, resist, and survive violent attacks. Specializes in variety of training to families and individuals that are seeking to be proactive regarding their safety. Firearms courses are taught in Los Angeles and can be taught in group, semi-private and private environments. Self-defense instruction is specialized for students and tailored for selected situations. The world is not a fair place. Train yourself to become a lioness. Develop your own special lioness qualities by becoming ferocious, fearless, strong, alert, and relentless. Spot your strengths by recognizing how to use your body as a weapon. Protect your pride by knowing your capabilities to react under stress. Prepare yourself to fight back. Don’t become the prey. Become the predator! This will give you the confidence to stand up tall and look fear in the eyes.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are to continue to share my knowledge with as many people as I can. With crime rate and violence increasing, I believe self-defense is a must nowadays. So I took on a role becoming an ambassador for Turning Point USA educating law abiding citizens on their rights to defend themselves using self-defense. With the chaos in the world today, we must first stand up for our rights and defend our country, our principals, and the laws that allow us to live in a free nation.
