Meet Tori Jackson of Gleam Beauty Co in Koreatown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Jackson.

Tori, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am originally from Harlem, NY (and PROUD) but relocated to LA a few years ago… mainly for the weather. By day, I manage digital partnerships with fortune 500 and tech companies for a Black millennial-focused media company where I’ve worked with companies like Twitter, Facebook, Google, Shea Moisture, Spotify and more. I also started a clean beauty brand in 2018 called Gleam Beauty Co whose mission is to provide high-quality additions to your beauty routine. Our goal is to enhance your glow ✨ I’m also a content creator, focusing on beauty and lifestyle for YouTube and Instagram.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not a smooth road at all. I’m from Harlem aka the ghetto, and I’ve had to work my ass off to get it out the mud! I’ve worked multiple jobs at once, did unpaid internships for experience and when I moved to LA, it wasn’t easy at all. I moved for a job in 2016 and was fired three months later. I spent 2017 living off of credit cards, food stamps and trying to get as many freelance gigs as possible. I ended up leaving in 2018 and went back home to figure out wtf I was doing. I decided to come back bc I don’t fail and it was a great decision. It still hasn’t been easy but I’m extremely tenacious and fearless, so I’m still here.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in clean beauty and we’re known for our hero product, our “give good glow” serum. It’s made with hibiscus extract, hemp oil, rosehip oil and lots of good (clean) ingredients. It’s honestly amazing.

I am most proud of the community we’re building with our #gleamgang and the fact that our products work for all skin types. We don’t make any claims that you’ll use our products and all of your skin troubles will go away, but you will benefit from the amazing ingredients and you will GLOW.

What sets us apart is that we keep it simple and we’re openly repping for WOC. We’ll also be adding merch and a tech aspect this year, so that’s pretty exciting!

What were you like growing up?
I was an only child with a big personality. If I wasn’t reading two books a day, I was dancing at a talent show or being the lead in a school play, I’ve also always been a leader and I’ve always been bossy, lol.
