Check Out Grace Piper’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Piper.

Hi Grace, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been writing and acting since I was young, and I’ve always been looking for my niche within those industries. In high school and college, I did improv and found myself gravitating towards comedy and started pursuing that. Since I’ve been in Los Angeles, I’ve been focused on improvisation and sketch comedy at Second City Hollywood. When COVID shut down live performances, I took the time to try to lean into writing more, which led to me starting my blog, where I publish comedic personal essays on all sorts of topics. I also started podcasting – something I’ve always wanted to do but never had the time. Those are called Doppelgängers and The Gossier.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve always struggled to slow down. I thrive when I’m busy, and it can sometimes cause me to focus less on each project – it’s so easy to fall into the trap of “hustle culture”. COVID canceled a lot for me and caused me to reassess my goals and priorities. It’s been difficult to reflect in this way during a stressful time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At heart, I’m a comedian and a fan of comedy – my sense of humor is my favorite thing about myself. What I’m focused on at the moment is diversifying my comedy – I did improv and sketch for so long, and now I’m working on using different mediums. That’s where my blog and podcasts have come in. I started a blog to write personal essays from my point of view. I’m known on stage for my detailed, funny writing, and I’m translating this to my new blog in a really unique and special way. And I’m now co-hosting two podcasts – I recap The Vampire Diaries with my twin sister on Doppelgängers, and talk about personal and celebrity gossip with a fellow comedian on The Gossier.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was always a smart-ass and a know it all. I actually won the senior superlative “Most Opinionated” – a title that I’m proud to hold, even if it is a bit of a backhanded compliment.
