Today we’d like to introduce you to Khanh Luu.
Hi Khanh, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Patty Meets Bun started off as a local farmer’s market food stand in Rosemead. We started to branch out into other Los Angeles area markets and now run a food truck in the San Gabriel Valley. We have always wanted to motivate others to be adventurous with their food by introducing them to new cuisines. We thought that creating fusion burgers was an exciting way to tempt somebody to step out of their comfort zones by enticing them using a familiar vehicle; a burger. Our goal is to have our guests enjoy the food and not only return to the truck but to also inspire them to visit the restaurants of the cuisines that inspired our burgers. We love to hear things from our regulars such as, “Hey, we checked out a Vietnamese restaurant for the first time because we love the lemongrass marinade in the Banh Mi Burger that we tried from you”. The community has been so amazing with the support, and we are excited to continue implementing new flavors to the menu as our menu is always evolving.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We opened up our doors in the middle of this pandemic which has clearly been a difficult time for any businesses due to added safety concerns, new procedures and policies. People are more selective than ever in what businesses they can trust. We are working hard and patiently to build a customer base from the ground up, slowly through positive word of mouth from our guests that have thankfully given us a try.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am chef and owner of the husband and wife run Patty Meets Bun Food Truck. We create unique and flavorful fusion burgers inspired by specific dishes from around the world such as our Vietnamese Banh Mi Burger, Peruvian Lomo Saltado Burger, and our Argentinian Chimichurri Steak Burger. We are proud to offer true-to-cuisine flavor in our burgers.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have always loved food, so some of my favorite memories revolved around trying a new food dish. I remember the first time having Korean BBQ, being amazed at the varieties of banchans that were available.
