Today we’d like to introduce you to Jun Ueda.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started taking photos in 2013, mainly focusing on sunrises and sunsets. Since my commute to my afternoon soccer practices took around 30 minutes each way, I had the opportunity to witness many sunsets and document them on my mother’s phone. I didn’t necessarily focus on composition when taking these photos; It was more about documenting the scene. My love for photography began here. Over the years, I’ve tried nearly every type of photography in hopes of finding my true passion. I’m currently in my last semester at San Francisco State University studying photojournalism.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, I have seen consistent improvement in my work. Though I am never happy with what I produce, my mindset keeps me motivated to keep pushing the limits of what I’m capable of. My family and friends are very supportive of my craft as well.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
It’s hard to say what I specialize in within photography since I dabble with so many different types. I would say that my favorite is landscape, specifically long exposure photography. I’m mostly known for my landscape pieces. I enjoy shooting long exposures since it creates images that you can’t see with the naked eye. I use this technique to convey emotion through motion within the images and better control the light within a scene.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
