Daily Inspiration: Meet Seville Michelle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Seville Michelle.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started designing in 2009 with a desire to create jewelry and accessories inspired by the trends of my youth. I started with one concept, epaulettes and did variations of that one concept. Once I mastered that concept, I felt ready to explore a new idea. When I created the concept of wrapping bamboo earrings in Italian leather it was like adding diamonds to a Casio.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a long 12 years. I’ve had to overcome many obstacles– from technically issues to financial restrictions, I had to fight every step of the way to build a successful business that I feel good about. Without a professional background or education in jewelry design prior to launching my business, I had to learn to fabricate my concepts through trial and error. I had to mess up before I could step up and deliver a well-made design. Money was another issue. You need money to make money so I had to figure out creative ways to make creative concepts with serious budgetary restrictions. But in the end, it made me sharper and more pragmatic in design and business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Growing up immersed in the fashion and jewelry trends of the 1990’s, I wore large doorknocker earrings, big gold chains throughout my adolescent life. My creative palette expanded beyond chunky gold jewelry in the glamorous nightlife scene of the mid 90’s. I merge street style with luxury, always referencing my city life roots and identity. I break design, introducing new and exciting connects my fan base connects with on an emotional level.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
