Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Taylor.
Hi Jay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a Designer and Wardrobe Stylist out of Los Angeles (Watts) CA. I originally started designing Bow Ties back in 2011; over the years I developed more skills and a bigger passion for fashion. So decided I wanted to add styling and customization to my brand. So created StyledByJayTaylor, I begin styling proms, customizing tuxedos, dresses, bow ties, and all kinds of custom garments. In 2018, I went viral from a custom prom I did for one of my clients.
From that moment, I expanded my brand and became more popular for my custom designs. Today I am now customizing wardrobes does styling music videos, photoshoots, etc. and known for my creative intricate details in my unique creative custom designs.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No successful story is easy… There will always be obstacles, challenging, and overwhelming situations that will test your Faith. I literally put my blood, sweat and tears into my brand. I have had some moments that I wasn’t proud of however it improved me as a person and businessman. I preserved. I have had an extremely proud moment so where I overcame every challenge that was given to me. And that’s why today, I am still creating and expanding.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fashion designer and wardrobe stylist, I specialize in my signature custom bow ties, custom tuxedos, and wardrobe styling. I am very known for my signature bow ties. I’m the Bow Tie King, I mean at the end of the day I took the dorkiest male accessory and swagged it out completely. I am known for styling really elegant Proms with a high-end fashion twist. I am extremely proud of all my accomplishments, the fact that I took bow ties and made my brand StyledByJayTaylor international, the fact that I am self-taught, and my design went viral on Facebook with me just posting photos and videos to show my creative work. That’s when my brand started really spoke for itself. I have shipped one of my custom designs to Australia in 2019 that was an extremely huge accomplishment! What sets me apart from your average designer is my details! The unique way of my garments being created. All of my bow ties are hand made so you will never find two identical.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is making others happy. I have a Huge personality and great sense of humor! I love to spread make other people smile and just be kind. I’m genuinely a dope positive person.
