Today we’d like to introduce you to Zayna Allen.
Zayna, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always known that I wanted to work in entertainment since I was a child. I never knew that I would ever be here in my journey, however. I started off wanting to be an actress, I even went to a performing arts high school and majored in theatre.
I was introduced to video production when I had to take a video production class and fell in love with the behind the scenes of creating content. I fell in love with being able to share stories of people who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. Since then, I’ve gotten to work on so many different projects as an on air host and producer. I wouldn’t change anything about my journey at all.
Has it been a smooth road?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road at all. There have been several times where I questioned if I’m going down the right path (and honestly, I still do.)
Comparison is the thief of joy and there were many times I compared myself to other people in the business. “That person has this, why don’t I have that?” “Look at how far along that person is in their career, why am I not where they are?” I constantly have to remind myself that my path will not look like everyone else’s and that there is a reason why I don’t have the things that I’m questioning but I literally have all that I need, that’s what’s important.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I go by Zayna The Brand. I am a producer and host of a lifestyle talk show, multimedia personality, and womanist amongst many other titles! I chose to call myself “Zayna The Brand” for that reason! I am more than one title, I am not something that can be boxed into one thing. When you get to experience me and my work, I am a melting pot of several different entities.
My ultimate goal AT ALL TIMES is to promote and support the plight & power of black womxn. The promotion and support of all of us in the black diaspora comes immediately after that and following behind is the promotion and support of the general body of minorities. IN THAT ORDER. And I am completely unapologetic about it.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m from NJ but I absolutely love LA. You’ll see Zayna The Brand there permanently by 2025!
