Check Out Tannie Nash’s Story

Hi Tannie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My love for hair was instilled in me from birth. I come from a long family line of cosmetologists. I truly grew up in the salon and today, I am proud to say I am a third-generation hairstylist who works alongside my mother and grandmother where she is the owner of Barbara’s Beauty Salon which has been a staple in the community for over 30 years. My journey started in high school where I attended California Beauty College. After beauty school, I had the vision of working in Hollywood and I went after my dreams. I have been blessed to have had great mentors such as Kim Kimble who I traveled the world with and learned so much from. After working in Hollywood, I have returned to my hometown in Moreno Valley where I provide the Hollywood experience to the community I love and grew up in. It’s so rewarding to have those moments with each of my clients where I can uplift them and make them feel good, especially during these times. The change that comes from a client seeing their new style is what I look forward to each day. Fifteen years later, I am still in love with what I do.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. While in beauty school the first school I attended was shut down and I had to locate a school that would accept ROTC students which interrupted my plan. I was out of school for six months. I finally found a school that was an hour and a half commute six days a week to accept me. My grandmother always instilled the importance of continuously growing and education so I started at salons which could offer that and an hourly paycheck as it is hard to build a clientele straight out of beauty school. I worked at Fantastic Sam’s where I got certified in Pivot Point cutting and JC Pennys salon where I was offered coloring training and a diverse clientele that really took away any fear I had of any hair type. I felt like I could do it all.’

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love doing extensions I am known in my city for providing natural and undetectable full head extensions. People are blown away from the results coming into the salon. I love when clients have a picture of their ideal style and I can exceed that vision. Aside from doing extensions natural hair is my pride and joy. I instill in my client’s extensions are great but, I want them to have healthy hair underneath their extensions that they are proud of. I am excited to announce I have launched my hair extensions line The B-Hive Extensions & More where I specialize in color and texture matching as well as custom wigs. I believe what sets me apart from others is my training and love and hunger to not be satisfied where I am. I love to learn new techniques and there is so much talent around you can never know it all and I go after it all.
