Meet Taeylor White of Taestful Aesthetics in Northridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taeylor White.

Taeylor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was raised in Chester, VA where the dance industry was not as progressive as it is in California. I had a wonderful childhood despite the typical teenage drama, but that never steered me away from what I loved the most. I went to high school at a Performing Arts program which later sparked my dance journey after I graduated. Right after high school, I attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated May of 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Dance and Theater Studies. Soon after, I attended Mills College in Oakland, California and graduated during COVID-19 May of 2020 with a Master’s degree in Choreography and Performance. Now, I live in Los Angeles, California where I am currently adjusting to the hustler lifestyle while continuing to pursue dance and to become an inspiration to those around me.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has never been a smooth road to my success, but I enjoy looking back and seeing how far I have come. One of the many challenges that I had faced was school. I never applied to Mills College in Oakland, California. At the time, I only applied to five graduate schools along the East Coast and got rejected to all of them! I was not supposed to be in California whatsoever! Each rejection letter felt like a stab to the heart. Imagine being stabbed five times and thinking that there’s no possible way to recover. After the defeat started to settle in, a faculty member of the Mills dance department reached out to me to let me know that they had an interest in me joining their dance community. I took this as a window of opportunity and never looked back. To this day, this obstacle/challenge of mine became a major turning point in my dance career. That’s what I truly love about challenges; sometimes they’re disguised as blessings that could potentially be a pivotal point in a lifetime.
