Meet Carmireli Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmireli Rodriguez.

Carmireli, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started training in music and acting when I was 12. Got signed to a couple of big record companies and moved to LA to work on a debut album. The record company I was with at the time dropped me a week after moving to LA. I was devastated and tried to pursue my music career on my own for a year or so but nothing ever happened.

I remember sitting at a light in Hollywood and saying to myself, “Well, I’m here in the land of stars might as well give acting a shot” and I did! I started acting class at Speiser/ Sturges acting studio and was there for four years. Aaron Speiser and Shannon Sturges pushed me to my limits and it helped me find my love for acting.

I started auditioning a year after joining the studio and the rest is history. I’ve booked three national commercials. Found an agent and Manager. Booked a Pilot, a couple of indie movies and had three of those films land festival circuits! Worked with amazing coaches like Sara Mornell and Lesley Khan and Now I’m one of the top 16 finalists in the 2020 ABC showcase and I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 will bring!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It def hasn’t been a smooth road and even to this day, it isn’t. I have to face rejection everyday. Being a Latina that doesn’t have the “stereotypical look” is hard. I have to prove to others that I can speak Spanish and that I am Spanish. But I’m grateful for all that because it has made me a kickass actress.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m an actress from San Juan, Puerto Rico and raise in Queens, NY. I’m known for the MasterCard/ the voice national commercial that was released a few months ago. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve grown from all the rejections and hardship this business brings. And I’m proud that I am the Latina who’s gonna change the way Hollywood sees “Latinas”. What sets me apart from others is the drive, the discipline, the focus and the determination I have to be an actress. I don’t have a plan B and that’s what keeps me going.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was my first trip to Bronx Zoo and I got to ride a camel! I think I was about 5 or 6 years old.
