Meet Keniesha Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keniesha Robinson.

Keniesha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As long as I can remember, I’ve always loved reading and telling stories. At a young age, I fell in love with using my imagination. The characters in those books I used to read and in those stories, I would tell made me realize how fun it is to create. I wanted to be those characters, play those character, look from the eyes of those characters. That’s when I found my passion for acting. I started acting in Philadelphia in short films and commercials, then had some acting jobs in New York. Soon after, I began modeling in both Philadelphia and New York. After I finished acting school in NYC at William Esper Studio in early 2020, I decided that it was time to take a big leap of faith, step out of my comfort zone and move to LA.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, not everything is smooth sailing. I’ve had struggles and challenges along the way. At the start of my career, I lost my father. It was painful and hard to cope with. I’ve never felt more broken in my life. With acting there is no guaranteed steady income, so at the time I felt like I could not help with anything financially. I started to feel like this isn’t a real career and would doubt myself and tell myself to quit and change career paths. Every time I would doubt myself and want to give up and quit, I would hear my dad say to keep going. He saw my potential and still sees my potential, so I’ve never looked back since.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an actress and model from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I’m known for my commercial work, “TMobile”, “York College”, “Forman Mills”, “Pennsylvania Public Health”, and most recent commercial “Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (wear your mask)”. I am also most commonly known as Wanda from the film Heroin. I’m proud of myself for going back to school for acting, even after already having experienced being in commercials/films and having an agent. Just because I am already working in the industry doesn’t mean that I don’t have to keep learning and training. There is always more to learn and there is always room for improvement and growth no matter who you are. This mentality is what sets me apart. The fact that I am always willing to learn and take criticism. I will never stop training or perfecting my craft.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I am always willing to learn new things and get better. I never give up. Just because someone might be at the height level 10 doesn’t mean that that’s the end or that they have to stay there. Instead, they can reach for level 11 and then after level 11 they can reach for level 12, etc. I recently went back to acting school, even though I am already actively working in the entertainment industry. There is always more to learn and there is always room for improvement and growth no matter who you are. I will never stop training or perfecting my craft no matter what level I reach.
