Meet Jazmin Jones of Wylde Olivia – Sea Moss & Things in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmin Jones.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey with Sea Moss began in March of 2020. I had just returned from a trip to Costa Rica and when I landed at LAX, we were right in the beginning stages of COVID19. I was also overweight by about 50lbs and those things coupled with my recent life-changing trip to Costa Rica, collectively, they made me want to change my eating habits and to be more kind to my body as a whole.

In the midst of trying to process everything, my aunt suggested that I get a jumpstart on my health by trying this thing called sea moss gel. She had purchased a few jars and gave me one to try but I couldn’t get past the texture. By this time, I had researched sea moss heavily and was aware of its amazing healing properties and how Dr. Sebi (whom was a local alternative medicine healer) was a huge advocate of its daily consumption. From there, I decided that I was going to make my own and thus I then began watching several videos showing the various techniques used to make sea moss gel. I also decided to incorporate organic fruit and honey into the sea moss and thankfully, it was well-received. Initially, I started selling it to family and friends and then as the demand grew, I decided to make it official by starting a business and selling it across the U.S. It’s been wonderful ever since.

Has it been a smooth road?
This journey definitely came with some challenges in its early stages. I am a mother of two children (ages 14 and 4) and I also work full-time as an Office Manager for a small engineering firm. When I first began making/selling sea moss gel, I was working from home for my job and delivering orders to customers as far as Palmdale and Murrieta California (I reside in Long Beach, CA). I was also taking my toddler with me for the majority of the deliveries and that became challenging at times. When I first started, I didn’t have a website and thus, I was taking orders via Facebook, Instagram and on my business line. Needless to say, things became overwhelming very quickly and on a couple of occasions, I crossed orders trying to process orders so quickly. It was honestly a mess on my end. Add in having to follow-up with virtual schooling for my teenager and I was exhausted! Eventually (about six weeks into the start of my business), I had a website developed to help me to streamline everything into one location and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. A friend of mine offered to help me and I am beyond grateful to him. As a result, I also had to scale back my delivery area because I began shipping orders and there just wasn’t enough time in the day. Overall, the experience has definitely been worth it and I’m grateful for how far I’ve come. Above everything, my children have definitely been my constant support/motivation and that’s what pushes me to keep going.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Wylde Olivia – Sea Moss & Things story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is named Wylde Olivia which was inspired by my four-year old “wild child,” Ms. Lauren Olivia. Currently, I make and sell sea moss gel and sea moss infused body scrubs. I would love to expand, so as the opportunities present themselves, we’ll see how things turn out. In terms of my personal spin on sea moss gel, I think my variety of flavors and the fact that my sea moss doesn’t necessarily have the ocean taste that some have come to expect it to be, these are some of the contributing factors to why my customers return. Additionally, I am big on customer satisfaction! I try my best to make my customers feel appreciated with every purchase. Knowing that there are multiple companies that offer similar products and yet my customers decide to spend with me, that means a lot to me. As much as I appreciate the business that I have received, I try to express my gratitude to my customers upon receipt of their orders. This is also what I’m most proud of, that people gave my product a chance and that they continue to pour into my business.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I would love for the wellness industry to continue to expand. I love that people are becoming more in tune with self and also that they are trying to naturally heal their bodies! Over the next decade, I see there being more natural medicine and overall natural options within the healthcare industry and at an affordable price. I see more people trusting the Earth and acknowledging that we already have all that we need to heal ourselves. Eventually, I see alternative medicine fully replacing what we consider to be medicine in this day and age and that’s why Wylde Olivia is here. I’m so excited to be a part of this massive shift that is occurring. Love & Light Always!
