Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Thaler.
Tara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in New York and moved to New Orleans with my parents when I was three. While in New Orleans, my parents filed for divorce and my dad decided to relocate to California. I drove with my dad to San Diego. On the way we stopped to see the crystal caves in New Mexico. Ironically, years later, I attended The New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts where I studied massage therapy and learned different healing modalities. It reinforced my connection to my spiritual path and love for metaphysics. Shortly after arriving in California with my dad, my mom moved to San Diego so we could be together, but decided to move back to New York soon after. That’s when I became a bi-coastal kid, spending summers and holidays in California and the rest of the year in New York.
When I was a teenager, my dad brought me to a seminar that ended up being life-changing. I did an exercise that was based on using one’s intuition and helping other people with it. I had to partner up with someone I never met and give each other three names of people we knew who were battling an illness or other health condition. The purpose of doing this was to tap into our intuition and come up with creative ideas on how to help each person who could use some healing. We were also sending out good energy for wellness, resolution and powerful thoughts of manifestation. At the same time we were discovering our own intuitive abilities secondary to this process. The person I was paired up with validated how much I picked up on every single one of those people I was tuning in to, down to their health issues and things they were experiencing because of it, as well as descriptions of their appearance. I was just glad I could try to help them and felt like I knew them and wanted them to be well. Little did I know then that this would be a vehicle to where I am today. I started getting feelings and predictions that were happening. I didn’t know if I was ready for this or who to talk to about it. I felt responsible if I saw something I couldn’t prevent. It was a lot for a 14 year old to handle, and I started getting teased in school and was called a ‘witch’ and it made me not want to go to school. Like a lot of child psychics, I decided to shut it down.
Three years later, I moved back to California to finish my last two years of high school. My dad was remarried and my stepmom at the time happened to be taking classes at a metaphysical center and asked if I wanted to take a class. I randomly picked a class not knowing it would be such a big part of my destiny. I chose a palmistry class.
One day I was practicing what I had learned and I said to a classmate “Do you have an uncle named William”? “Yes” was her response. I asked if he has been missing or hasn’t connected with her dad in a while. She was pretty amazed when she said “yes” again -and so was I. Around the same time, I told another girl that I got the name Ren”e on her. The following week she came up to me all excited and said “I met a guy from France this weekend and his name is Ren”e and he asked me on a date” I don’t know who was more surprised, her or me. I thought I did not learn this in palm reading class. I realized when I read palms, it was just a resource to connect to people’s energy and to come back to my intuition and to trust it again. I went on a cruise that same year and was reading some friends I made in the disco. All of a sudden, a long line was formed around me and someone was translating in Spanish for some of the passengers from Columbia.
Between the age of 17 and my mid-twenties, I could not even go to a party in California or walk through my neighborhood in New York City without people lining up around me putting their palms out. This, after being teased in junior high school and going through some rough times as a teenager, really boosted my confidence and made me feel I was doing something meaningful. I saw how I was helping people and that is all I ever wanted to do since I was a young child. In my early twenties, I was working for a chiropractor as a Massage Therapist. The chiropractor believed in me and my psychic abilities and asked me if I would be willing to read some of my clients. I was honored. This paved my way to where I am today and gave me the courage to trust my intuition. It all makes sense who I am now, who I always was and who I feel proud to truly be
When I was a teenager my dad took me to a metaphysical store called Visions and Dreams in Costa Mesa. I told him I could stay there forever like I belonged there. And Ironically, I do readings there today, three decades later. The owners and people who work there are like spiritual family. There are no coincidences.
Sometimes I spoke to childhood friends from New York and High School here and they would say, “I’m so glad you are still doing what you always did, and what you were meant to do”. I realize looking back, this really happened organically and was part of my life path and I just did what I was intuitively guided to do. Never be afraid to be who you truly are; along the way, you never know who you may help or inspire.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an intuitive and spiritual counselor. I use my intuition to help guide people by giving them caring and honest insight, clarity, advice and support. I read each person based on their energy and individual needs.
I am honored to help people as a medium by channeling messages from people’s loved ones who have crossed over. I have seen how much validation, peace, hope and meaning it brings beyond words.
I am known for getting names and detailed descriptions of people in my readings. I have predicted names people have met, worked with, dated and even married.
I am an animal communicator and I love working with people’s pets. They are so receptive to it that I have even read for pet parties at pet supply stores. I help animals express how they are feeling and tune into their health needs and will massage them too.
I am a numerologist and help people understand their life path and purpose and what they were destined to come here for and experience in this life. I also validate what’s happening this year and why and what is in store for the year.
I specialize in doing readings for all types of parties and events. I have been doing readings for parties for over 20 years. I love being a part of the festivities and interacting with people in fun meaningful ways. I love to entertain and bond with the guests. I have also really discovered how much I have a passion for dressing up like a gypsy and in different costumes to go along with any party theme. I especially do a lot of Halloween and Holiday parties this time of the year. I am doing small group parties while following safety guidelines during this pandemic.
I have assisted detectives and law officials with solving cases and helping find missing children.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
There was nothing more fun and exciting than visiting my grandparents in Florida during the holidays. When I was a little girl, I would write poems and share them with my grandma. I would dance and spin around her living room while listening to her antique music box, playing “When I Wish Upon a Star”. In those moments, she would look at me with love and tears in her eyes and a smile as big as her heart. I could see she was touched which touches me looking back and knowing she recognized and embraced who I was inside; she encouraged my creativity and self-expression. She would always massage my little hands and feet and I’d come back for more. Best massages ever. Makes sense now where I got my healing hands from. Being I became a massage therapist years later for a while. I realize more than ever how her actions taught me the gift of giving and that it’s okay to be vulnerable and to be in touch with your emotions and to really honor other people’s feelings as well as your own and that being sensitive is not a weakness but a strength. She was a role model and she inspired me to be strong and brave, laugh with joy and to know it’s also okay to cry sometimes and see the beauty in the pain.
She died when I was 14 but I remember her like it was yesterday! She called me her little tough cookie and I never knew how strong I would have to learn to be due to years of chronic health and pain issues and certain life experiences. She may not be here now, but one thing I know for sure is I always have a beautiful, amazing angel by my side. And like my grandfather always said, “we Thalers are tough”. I really understand the validity to that now. My Grandpa Louie was the best. He was quite a character with a great sense of humor. He talked me through going on my first water slide when I was scared and went with me. It made me feel safe. He had a way of making things fun and making me feel I could do anything -like the time he taught me to swim. He was a retired physical ed teacher and he was ‘Louie the Lifeguard In Coney Island’ when he lived in New York. One day when I was five, he had me go into a pool with a rope around my waist and explained how to do the breaststroke and he walked around the pool holding the rope as I swam around. I practiced a lot and when he thought I was ready, he said go swim and I was like now? How? He said, “do what you did on the rope”. And I went right in and started kicking and using my arms and the next thing you knew, I was swimming to my surprise –and I was like “I’m swimming, I can swim!”. He was so proud of me that it made me proud of myself. He was my biggest cheerleader.
When my grandpa saw I couldn’t tie my shoes, he carved two holes into a small square piece of wood and put a shoelace through it and he gave me the tools to learn to tie my shoes. I loved how he even made their patio into a playroom for me. He was like a big kid and I think we all should get in touch with our inner child and be a kid at heart sometimes. This all reminds me of what I have applied to my readings and counseling sessions. I help people to help themselves. I give support by spotting people emotionally, helping them feel safe while encouraging them to take risks to reach their goals and have fun while doing it; and to live with passion and compassion.
