Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Foley.
Michelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been in the Movie and TV industry for six years now doing craft service. I always knew it would be temporary and that I wanted to do something that was ME. Over the last couple of years, I started diving into my personal health and learned so much about our everyday surroundings that affect our health. When COVID hit and I lost my job, I decided that it was the perfect time to pursue something that was on my heart. I wanted to create beautiful, non-toxic, self-care products that people could feel good about using knowing they weren’t unknowingly harming their health. That’s when Citrine Dream was created. From nontoxic coconut soy candles to body scrubs, to essential oil blends, I started sharing my creations with the world, and it lit me up. It’s important to me that my ingredients are always certified organic and that I know where my ingredients are sourced from. I will never create and sell a product that I wouldn’t use on myself because I care about creating safe and healthy products for everyone. This is only the beginning, but I am so excited to see where Citrine Dream will go and the lives it will touch.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I started Citrine Dream not really planned and used my savings for everything I needed during a time when the future was so unknown (during COVID). I quickly realized that starting a business and putting myself out there was freakin’ scary and I didn’t know if people were going to love it or not. But no matter how “successful or unsuccessful” Citrine Dream was going to be, at least I took a risk and was doing something I loved, and that was enough for me.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Citrine Dream – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Citrine Dream is a plant-derived, nontoxic self-care company always made with gratitude. I make candles, body scrubs, smudge sticks, essential oil blends, bug spray, etc. I’m proud to say that I have stuck to my vision and haven’t compromised quality. The quality of my products is important to me which can mean the products can be a bit more expensive than someone was anticipating. But I truly feel at the end of the day, we can’t put a price on our health because it’s priceless.
One of my most popular products so far has been the BYE BUGS bug spray. During the Summertime, I always get tons of bug bites and they would end up swelling. Typical store bought bug spray is usually filled with lots of chemicals and is really harmful to our bodies. So I decided to make a bug spray using essential oils, jojoba oil and witch hazel extract and it ended up working really well and my customers ended up loving it!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that LA is one of the leading cities when it comes to having easy access to health and wellness. There is so restaurants, grocery stores, workout studios, etc. that make it easy to put our health first. LA is also one of the most diverse cities out there where everyone can be themselves without judgment. We’re all so different and have passions we want to share and LA is a great city to accomplish that.
