Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Willett.
Morgan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story all began with reality TV… believe it or not. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Journalism and briefly worked a job in Public Relations before I got the call to fly to Los Angeles and be a part of Big Brother: Over The Top. Fast forward 65 days and I ended up winning the show and walking away with 250,000 dollars at the age of 22. Luckily, that money allowed me to move to LA and pursue a career in TV hosting. Although that was interrupted when I got cast on MTV’s dating show “Ex On The Beach.” From there, I left three days after filming wrapped to go on MTV’s The Challenge: War of the Worlds. Once I got home, I realized reality TV wasn’t for me and I wanted to pursue what I was actually passionate about… fitness. Thanks to my stint on TV, I gained a bit of a following on social media, so I started posting my workouts on Instagram just for fun. I never expected my followers to enjoy them so much!
After realizing I had such a high demand for fitness content, I started posting weekly “Motivation Monday” workout videos and absolutely loved it. Once I started getting messages from people saying I helped them lose weight and become passionate about working out and living a healthier life… I realized I needed to do something bigger than just Instagram. So I decided to Launch “MOVE LIKE MORGAN” – a personal online training system to help people kickstart their fitness journey from the comfort of their own home. With COVID 19 keeping everyone at home, I really wanted to help people stay in shape and enjoy working out from home! You can have kids, a job and no access to a gym… and still make changes to your body and live a healthy life! Move Like Morgan comes with an app, access to workouts, a nutrition plan and live workout classes with me!
Long story short… I went from reality TV Texas cheerleader/blonde bombshell to fitness fanatic/26 years old entrepreneur focused on helping people change their lives and get up and get moving! (my slogan).
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Working for yourself is definitely not the easiest thing! You have to constantly be hustling and pushing yourself. When I see everyone else binging Netflix late at night, I am answering emails instead. There have been many bumps and many moments where I totally wanted to throw my laptop against the wall. Between tech issues, a world pandemic hitting & struggling to have the confidence to put myself out there in the fitness world, it hasn’t always been easy. But with every message I get from someone saying that they began to love fitness again by doing my workouts or that I helped change their life… it makes all the stress totally worth it! Working for yourself incredibly hard but also incredibly rewarding.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Move Like Morgan – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My business is called Move Like Morgan and it is a personalized “at home” training system aimed at helping people kickstart their fitness journey and live a healthier lifestyle! I take on a small group of clients and host “fitness challenges” which usually last 60 days and include everything from nutrition plans, at home workouts, HIIT classes, zoom check-ins and a customized Move Like Morgan app!
I am mostly known for my appearances on Big Brother and MTV’s Ex On The Beach and The Challenge. People also recognize me because I am currently dating MTV’s Johnny Bananas and I met him during my stint on the show (he was my partner!) After my appearances on TV, I gained a social media following and focused all my time and energy into building a brand I was proud of! I began posting workouts and they quickly gained a ton of traction! Once I got my first message from someone saying that they loved my workouts, I was hooked! I knew this is what I wanted to do.
From there, I decided to expand my fitness + workouts from beyond my Instagram page. I got SO many messages from women across the country asking for help with their fitness goals and once COVID19 hit and everyone was stuck at home with no access to gyms… I realized that was the perfect time for me to launch my own fitness program! From there, Move Like Morgan was born.
I specialize in “at home” workouts that anyone can do! Most people know me for my cardio-based HIIT workouts that I post on my social media pages. I am a firm believer that you don’t have to have a ton of time, money or equipment to get a good workout in. You just have to GET UP and GET MOVING! A little effort can go a long way.
I am most proud of myself for transitioning from the reality TV world and branding myself as something different than just someone who appeared on a TV show and posts pretty photos on social media. It is really hard to break free from that world, especially with so many people fighting for the spotlight or fighting for the next spot on the next “hot” show. I knew that I wanted to help people and be something bigger than a reality tv star. I am just really proud to be working with amazing people, doing something that I am passionate about and helping the world understand that fitness can be fun!
I think what sets me apart from the other fitness influencers/programs, besides the fact that I came from reality TV, is mine is very small and personal. I take on a small bunch and try and make the experience as personalized as possible! I interact face to face with my “fit fam” and talk to them daily to help hold them accountable. A lot of other programs simply give you a guide and expect you to do all the work. Not me! I want to personally hold you accountable.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Right now, I am focused on growing my fitness business and expanding to reach more and more people! I would love to eventually have a team working with me so I can take on more clients, instead of just a small group! Additionally, I am about to launch my own Move Like Morgan merchandise which I am very excited about. I have always wanted to have my own fitness wear line, so I feel like this is the first step towards that goal. Get ready for comfy hoodies, workout mats & shakers… all in a shade of pink, of course.
With the current state of the world + this unpredictable year… I am not planning anything too crazy! I am just using this time at home to work and hustle to meet my goals.
