Meet Victoria Whitman of Alura Staxxx in Woodland Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Whitman.

Victoria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a songwriter/artist, photographer and entrepreneur. Raised here in my hometown of Woodland Hills California, I am a Cali girl all the way! I spent most of my days as a child on the beach, taking photography, spending time with family and writing poetry. But, I have always had an immense love for music, all genres and languages. My love for music stemmed from my family and our versatility and love and appreciation for other cultures.

I fell in love with music as a child listening to artists like Mary J Blige, Stevie Wonder and Aaliyah, all the way to artists like sublime, David Bowie and Gypsy Kings. When it comes to music, I honestly have no preference because it’s all so beautiful yo me! I love the sense of togetherness that it brings and its ability to bring cultures and people closer to understanding one another if done in the right context. So, I felt, why not start to write my own ?! I have also branded my own independent media entertainment company called Westy media entertainment, which specializes in, photography, videography— in-particularly lifestyle and event photography, which would be my best and favorite categories. Between my music and my photography, it was truly the best outlet that I had that allowed me to express my inner-self and creativity to myself and with others. My official music journey as Alura Staxxx began in April 2020 when I decided to come to California to help family. It’s crazy because I stopped writing for so long because it became ‘boring’ for some reason. It was so stationary, I was always writing essays for school, I was over it! Until I started turning my poetry into music. I decided to go to the studio session with another artist after I had mentioned about having music that I felt I needed to record. After my first session in the booth, I was obsessed LOL.

From then up until now (20’ September) I have worked on over 40 songs and have also networked To my best ability and I’m now in a position to possibly have major song placements with some of our favorite artists today! It’s crazy how you can be called somewhere for one purpose, and yet be drawn into a whole different scenario that may end up being your destiny! It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to have these possibilities open so suddenly. I feel like it was almost meant for me to come back home! (The music called me back 😂)!! Interesting how a talent I “thought” I was over is becoming my destiny again, taking me back to my childhood, and it is so liberating and refreshing! I am sharing the story with all of my fellow voyageurs to tell ALL that anything is possible at any time, listen to the universe, your heart and study the energies of those around you. Love others but most of all love yourself and don’t be afraid to ever express yourself no matter what aspect it be—whether you love cooking, dancing, acting, medical, entrepreneurship or any other hobby you love or feel drawn to, or that comes naturally to you. Never be afraid to take advantage of the opportunities in front of you, seize the moment and create what you feel, make your own magic! Anything can happen.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
So far, the road has been pretty smooth. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in the right crowd. But this is the music industry and there’s always going to be in-discrepancies somewhere along the road. I am here for nothing but growth and learning— the key is to set goals but to not have too many expectations, that way there are no disappointments. All you have in your mind and in your heart is what your focus is and where you need to be. However as an artist, sometimes when you run into life issues it causes a little bit of cloudiness when it comes to being able to produce your art for some reason. So it Is always so important to protect your energy and maintain your mental health and keep good people around you so that way you’re able to create with an open mind and for clarity.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Generally, I would like to focus on myself as an artist. I specialize in songwriting for all genres. Focusing on R and B, urban, pop and hip-hop for a broad spectrum of entertainment. Along with my photography and media company, I feel that my artistry as a combination brings me happiness just to know that I am able to create something that helps others, whether it be memories for their family or making music that’s relatable and helping someone through a situation through my songs. What sets me apart from others is my energy and that I am a jack of all trades. With me, it’s like a one stop shop, it’s like what “can’t” you get done with me? lol

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I would’ve wanted to be my friend if I were someone else lol! I was very outdoorsy, adventurous and lover of all things natural. I spent most of my time outside, camping or collecting stones and such on my spare time. I was always very talkative and outgoing! Since I was a little girl, I’ve always been in love with writing and always executed story writing in my younger years. I’d spend hours listening to artists like Aaliyah, Timbaland, Art Laboe type Oldies as if it were my era, it’s like I always knew timeless music. My cousins and I would sometimes get together and sing, harmonize and just make magic with our voices, it gave me so much inspo to continue writing and growing! Personally, Photography, family, camping, writing, body surfing were all major interests for me! I also love to travel and have been doing so alone since I was five.
