Meet Andrew Ok of Tutu Fashion Wholesale in LA Fashion District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Ok.

Andrew, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Starting in the mid to late 90’s, the owner’s husband was a fabric salesperson and the wife had a small boutique store in Van Nuys. They were wanting higher quality items but with cheaper cost for their store. They found that the items they received were made poorly and lacked detail and quality.

After 4 years of saving, they were able to open up a wholesale store in the LA Fashion District. Both husband and wife could choose the fabrics and choose designs for their customers. After 13 successful years, they are still running and staying afloat.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There were lots of struggles. Competition, price points of other stores and people complaining of not selling the items. 3 Years ago, we had a big buyer from Brazil. He pre-ordered $30,000 worth of merchandise and did leave a deposit. We made all the merchandise he wanted but he never showed up to pick up the items.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tutu Fashion Wholesale – what should we know?
We are a Los Angles based wholesale manufacturer, focused on women’s fashions. Established in 2004, Tutu Fashion is based on over 20 years’ experience in designing and manufacturing high quality fashion clothing. We identify trends in global markets and produce tops, skirts, dresses and pants to bring low cost “high fashion” to our customers in response to the consumer’s demands.

The majority of our products are made in the USA. We pride ourselves on sourcing our own fabrics, trim, accessories, and other details to ensure the highest quality products. We strive for our products to be dependable for the end consumer to help drive repeat business for you, our retailer. We are continuously bringing new fabrics and new designs to keep what you offer the consumer fresh and relevant.

Over the past 20 years, our quality and customer service have established strong client relationships. We have many of our global customers still with us since our initial launch in 2004. Compared to our competition, our products are known to have a much better fit and much higher quality. We stand behind our products and our customers will tell you – you get what you pay for.

We had one friend who retired early from the industry. He was very informative and letting us know the importance of succeeding and how to succeed. Mr. explained the simple things to payroll and marketing and building a successful brand were huge for the company.
