Meet Joey Mora of The Klassiks in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Mora.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Joey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been working in the music industry for the past ten years+.

I started producing EDM and Hip Hop beats and in recent years, have moved full on into the Pop Music space. I now currently work for Electric Feel Management as a Recording Engineer where I have worked with Post Malone, French Montana, Pop Smoke, YoungBlud, 24k Goldn and Pia Mia just to name a few.

Aside from engineering, I am still releasing music as a producer artist. My first single in two years “Young” has gotten more than 500k streams in 3 months. I have recently released another song “Only You” and the streams are racking up even faster.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say it has not been a smooth road at all. I have struggled and continue to struggle day to day to keep my head above water. I have unfortunately lost a lot of friends from working in the music industry and it has definitely taken a toll on my personal life and relationships.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
In recent years I’ve become the guy people come to finish out a song or project. I’m hands down great with vocals. I’d dare to say I’m one of the best Melodyne users in the industry as I have been melodying for over ten years now. I’ve also grown a reputation of being able to collaborate well with other artists and producers to help them get their vision out. I think a lot of producers look at records and want to do what they would want personally, not thinking about the song from the perspective of the artist. I’ve learned to put my own opinions aside and really hone in on figuring out what will best convey the message that the artist is trying to convey.

As an engineer, I’ve been able to streamline the recording process for the artists I work with. Being a producer as well, I understand the subtleties and psychological aspects that go into recording a vocal.

Accomplishments wise, this year I was apart of my first recording to hit the hot 100, I’ve had songs in Netflix’s Series and movies as well as working with VICE to provide music for their show “Weediequtte”

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My biggest plan for the future is to release new music consistently. For so long, I have sat on some great records that I have created with my friends. As my platform continues to grow, I am excited to share these songs with people.
