Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Moore-Mason.
Jasmine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 2016, I experienced my first miscarriage at 11 weeks. In 2018, I experienced my second miscarriage at 19 weeks and four days. I found out I was having a girl at 13 weeks so I started gathering baby items I’d need to support my newborn. But, after I miscarried, I had lots of baby items I wasn’t going to use anymore. So I decided to start my healing journey by giving away those items intended for my daughter, Madison Renee.
I created J.Mason Foundation to endure all expecting families in need of baby items received a “Hello Baby Box” tailored to the gender of their baby. Helping others has really been beneficial to my healing journey and I’ve assisted so many families in need. I’ve shipped to 34 states and assisted over 60 families. Because of my miscarriages, I decided to focus on maternal health and I decided to become a birth & bereavement doula to assist families in the birthing room. I am also a certified Pregnancy & Infant Loss Advocate to assist those who have experienced loss.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, the road hasn’t been smooth at all. I used to become very triggered at pregnancy. I couldn’t walk down a baby aisle at the store. I didn’t want to watch commercials with babies in them. I struggled with being happy for others when they become pregnant.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
In addition to the “Hello Baby” box, I offer doula services. I’m known for my “Hello Baby” box; however, I’m establishing my doula business. I’m proud of the fact that I’ve been able to help so many people. I think my accessibly, responsiveness, & the way I interact with my supporters sets me apart from others.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always been the “quiet” or “shy” girl. I wanted to become a teacher. I’ve always had a passion to help others in need. My career path has changed, I attended Elizabeth City State University to receive my BSW & I’m now a foster care caseworker.
