Meet Noah V. Kubacki of Palm Prince in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah V. Kubacki.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began making art when I was in high school. Eventually, I began to find my own style, which leads me to begin selling some of my pieces. I strongly believe in originality. That’s why I don’t do reprints. I work out of my small studio in my apartment.

I’m very passionate about art. I’ve been to many shows and museums. My favorite art event is Art Basel in Miami and my favorite museum is the one at Princeton University. The first time I saw a Basquiat piece was at Princeton. I’ve seen other renowned artist’s work such as Andy Warhol and Frank Stella.

I’m always aiming to improve my work as well as my self-expression. I try to include vibrant colors in my work so that it invokes emotion. I remember I went to Art Basel Miami and I watched an artist’s film. I remember being there almost in tears because of how moved I was by the film. That’s the reaction I want from my art. I want people to be moved. I want people to feel different when looking at a Palm Prince piece.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I really wish it had been, but there were a few roadblocks. I remember when I was first starting I couldn’t afford canvas or paint. So what I would do is go to the dollar store and purchase my supplies from there. However, from using these cheap supplies I was able to get a better grasp on how canvas works. Once I began selling a couple of pieces I was able to buy some real paint. I got a small pack of paint and some decent brushes. Then I rinsed and repeated. Until now I have some quality paint and good brushes. I kept investing in better products so that I could eventually create whatever I wanted.

Palm Prince – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m an artist who sells his work on Instagram. So what sets me apart from everyone else is my work. I strongly believe that my art is different from a lot of people. I’m always working on new concepts and styles. Recently I’ve been experimenting with liquid acrylic. This paint is more watered down so you can create a similar drip that is done in graffiti. I took this new element and added some line design. Which gave me a piece that I was extremely proud of.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me success is being happy. I am happy with my work at the end of the day, then I am successful. I feel that a recent trend in culture is a cookie-cutter form of success. People believe that to be successful, you need to be the greatest within a year of whatever they’re doing. Although success takes a long time. It takes work. I’ve painted over my work many times. Being successful is continuing to work at anything until you’re happy.
