Today we’d like to introduce you to Destroy Lonely.
Destroy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Honestly, I feel like I’ve been doing this all my life, I can’t remember a time where I wasn’t doing what I’m doing today unless it was the years I was in school & even then I feel like I’ve always done exactly what I’ve wanted. I started off making music seriously when I was around 14, I made my first song on my computer on some bullshit but I just kept at it, then one day randomly the school I went too got a recording studio and I was stuck to it. From then, I spent most of my time in school trying to skip class to record in there. I made all of my first official songs in that classroom which is also where I learned how to record and mix my own music. I guess the teacher saw I was deadass because he let me use it damn near whenever I wanted. That went on for a few months until I got tired of going to school lol.
At this same school, I met two of my best friends Texaco & Nezzus. When I met Texaco, I only talked to him because he was the only other fly nigga around lmfao and I could tell he was on the same type of time I was on. A year later, I met Nezzus on some whole random shit through the city & then he eventually transferred to the same school as me where we became close because he happened to move directly across the street from me. This was the beginning of all this shit honestly, I spent everyday since the day he came to my school at his house. He happened to have a studio that was perfect for what I was trying to do so I ended up walking over to his house every single day to record and make music with him. I was over there so much eventually I got close with his older brother Smoke as well and they both took me in and fucked with me heavily and I appreciate them for that. Ever since then, its been completely up.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Hell nah. This road has been one of the most hell roads I’ve ever taken to get anywhere. To be completely honest its been amazing but hasn’t been easy at all. Just going through life and growing up can get challenging. I’ve never really struggled with music though, everybody has always fucked with me and my music. It’s authentic.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m Lonely, Destroy Lonely, The Darklord, TopFloorBoss. I inspire and influence. I make music for the people who enjoy this life and who go through things that don’t happen to everybody. I’m really proud of how far this shit has come, I remember when nobody was watching or listening or even cared, not that it matters. Shit Just crazy to think about. What makes me different from everybody else is that I’m Me, you just can’t do what I do.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My song Bane almost reaching a million. Other than that I’m just happy to be able to reach people & help. As I’m typing this I just got a dm from somebody telling me my music gives them hope, those are my proudest moments…
