Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Grasso.
Kat, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been working in business and branding, and empowering entrepreneurs and female-led companies for over 13 years. Fun fact: I never thought I’d be a *businesswoman*. But like many women, business has become a pathway of sovereignty, power, purpose, transformation and challenge.
I started in Paris, France, where I was a gypsy poet (still —a gypsy poet) and by a series of happy accidents, began collaborating with sustainable fashion brands on branding creative that flipped traditional branding concepts on their head.
Since then, I’ve been navigating the tricksy and often demoralizing waters of capitalistic, over-commercialized business, branding, and have been working towards transforming outdated messaging and industry practices through bringing conscious messaging and heart-led, restorative practices and branding to women and businesses worldwide, from NYC to London, to L.A.
I made a move from corporate to starting my own agency that embraces conscious and soul-based business as a philosophy when I realized that if I didn’t offer an alternative, and die to my smaller self in the process, I would never be able to see (and live) the change I longed. Or support the tide of women who are at the helm of changing their industries for the better. There was a long dark night of the soul (ten years) that seemingly had no end — except to endure.
My personal journey took me from my own hell of total burn out and complete loss of faith into transforming the darkest and densest aspects of myself and business into wisdom and building new paradigms. I re-discovered witchcraft and magic. I forgave. I did it alone until I found others on the path.
What I learned: there’s nothing more important than believing in oneself – and, nothing more bold than acting accordingly.
Today with my brilliant partner in crime and fellow clown Tracy Birdsell, I lead and support other leaders, specifically women in their journey towards soul-based entrepreneurship, and guide business owners towards leading from their authenticity and true, unique voice.
Through our program Master Heart Mind (launching Fall 2020) we will be offering a select group of women the opportunity to join us for a three months long journey of business building, deep self-discovery and transformation, as well as a community of female entrepreneurs on the path.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been beyond challenging. It was an ego-death to move from corporatized creative to soul sustaining creative work and biz dev that transforms and changes — mainly because in order to truly change anything, the world, your work in it, your approach – you must change yourself. The amount of devotion I feel goes into this is astonishing.
Entrepreneurs are their own boss – and learning how to create, run, and sustain a business on your own is a never-ending process of choosing growth over comfort.
And, throwing out *all the rules* and, ultimately, making your own.
Finding and trusting my unique perspective and voice has been a lifetime work. Working to develop it, unearth it, discover my own genius – it’s the work we’re told isn’t important, as a woman. It is *imperative* to take yourself seriously and, to embolden yourself to bring it forth into the world.

The Joy Agency L.A is a work of Love, an offering. We’re a hybrid creative / branding agency and coaching agency that specializes in supporting women and female-led businesses at the helm of their industries through creative, mentorship, workshops, summits, events and retreats.

A sense of being well and balanced in my body.
Keeping my Heart open even during challenging situations.
Remaining true to myself and my vision while allowing for change.
Growing, learning, becoming. Unbecoming. Changing, flowing, flowering.
Being able to connect more and more with “team human” while being hell-bent (heaven-bent?) on creating a more beautiful world for the planet and its people.
Having time for devotional magical practices & witchcraft.
When my clients and co-conspirators in this crazy thing called life *and conscious business* are totally and utterly delighted by our creative and branding or experiences.
Having time to take epic road trips and write devotional poetry.
