Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheris Branch.
Cheris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Writing has always been one of my passions. I explored it further during my undergraduate studies at USC. Working on the campus’ first and only student ran Black Publication, Black Voices, as a writer, section editor, and photographer further confirmed my passion and my gift in literary arts. Also during my studies, I interned and wrote for Yogi Times Magazine. Throughout my education, I spent my time tutoring middle school and high school students. My love for education continued after graduating with a degree in Neuroscience, for I became an Educator. I worked with children of all ages, from teaching in private schools, homeschooling, as well as working with children with learning disabilities. Now as a Registered Nurse, I pull from my experience in education and my passion for writing and continue to teach others through my literary works.
I started Esteemed Fountain of You, LLC, to provide tools to build and maintain a healthy sense of self-esteem. Through literary works such as books, courses, and screenplays, Esteemed Fountain of You, LLC, offers a myriad of resources that assists individuals with building and maintaining confidence in oneself. The Color Green and Why I Pray are my first publications, both of which are self-esteem building books for children.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of my greatest obstacles to achieving my goal in starting was overcoming self-doubt. I wrote both The Color Green and Why I Pray over ten years ago. Both sat on the shelf until the end of 2019 when I decided it was time to share my gift with the world. I realized that the personal growth and development I needed to go through over the last ten years was absolutely necessary for me to really assist others in their confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. I am here today to share what I’ve learned and what I know with children and adults. I have more books in the works, a curriculum for middle school and high school students, as well as screenplays, all geared towards self-esteem.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Esteemed Fountain of You – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Esteemed Fountain of You, LLC, is focused on providing tools for building and maintaining a healthy sense of self-esteem. From childhood to adulthood, self-esteem affects one’s outlook on life, what an individual is able to achieve, and how an individual responds to and interacts with others. When someone has a healthy sense of self-worth and value, that individual is able to reach his/her full potential in life. That individual is less likely to resort to detrimental habits that may harm themselves and others. Through literary works such as books, courses, and screenplays, Esteemed Fountain of You offers a myriad of resources that assists individuals with building and maintaining confidence in oneself.
I began Esteemed Fountain of You, LLC, because I noticed as an Educator, that self-worth and confidence were important in how a child responds to learning, challenges, and interactions with others. Having struggled with self-esteem from child to adulthood, I realized that more resources to build and maintain a healthy sense of self-esteem were necessary. I am proud of my first publications The Color Green and Why I Pray, esteem building books for children, both available on Barnes and Noble.com.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the receptiveness of the people of Los Angeles. I was born and raised here in LA but spent some time on the East Coast, and I can say the people of LA are open-minded and health-oriented. I love that. I love how self-improvement is very much a part of our culture in particular, with diet and exercise. I feel that self-improvement starts in one area and can expand to other areas. For instance, being mindful and intentional about one’s diet and physical health can easily expand to improving and developing oneself mentally to fully enjoy the beauty of life. With that being said, the family-oriented aspect of this city is lacking. I feel that’s my least favorite. I know that as individuals, once we change how we view ourselves, and connection to others, we will be better at maintaining those deeper connections as a unit.
