Meet Alice Chang of Famokids in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Chang.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The inception of Famokids did not take place in an office but in a mother’s belly. From that first moment of becoming pregnant, Famokids Founder & Designer, Alice, knew she needed to create something special for her baby and also change the way mother’s across the globe looked at foam play mats. With her many years in the baby product industry, she was familiar with the in’s & out’s of foam composition and what it took to produce a mat that was truly toxic-free & safe. Sure there were other mat options available, but they were obnoxiously brightly colored that no on-trend mom actually wanted in her beautiful home. Alice was determined to develop a foam play mat that met all of her high industry standards, was stylish for all modern mamas and most importantly, was safe for their babies.

Mission Statement
Baby Safe, Mama Approved

We create & design with the belief that all children deserve a happy & safe space to grow & learn, while you maintain a stylish home and slay your day! Famokids embodies peaceful lines and soothing tones to transform your home into a baby safe, mama approved environment.

What FAMOKIDS Means To Us – The very DNA of FAMOKIDS is FAmily x MOm x KIDS

The shape of our logo represents four family members united together as one strong foundation with a ribbon running through representing what a gift having a family is.

We invite you to welcome Famokids not just as an interior design addition, but as a member of the family. We will be there for tummy time, we will be there for baby’s first steps and we will continue to be there as more memories are made.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I delivered two “babies” at the same time. Our brand Famokids was officially launched at the same time when I gave birth to my son. It’s hard to take care both my newborn and my startup. Sleepless nights and tired postpartum body. However, being a mom, I want to give love to my own baby and also share this love and this wonderful product to other fellow mamas. It’s a tired but happy journey.

Please tell us about Famokids.
I am the Founder and CEO of the company. I work with the pattern designer to create our crystal collection play mat.

I really care about the aesthetic part of the product and the brand, cuz that’s what sets us apart from the traditional brightly color foam mats. So we spend a lot of them working with brand designer and pattern designer to create a modern trendy aesthetic brand and collection line.

I have in the baby product industry for many years. I was familiar with the in’s & out’s of foam composition and what it took to produce a mat that was truly toxic-free & safe. So I can control and be responsible for the safety and quality of this product. When we deliver the products to customers who are mostly parents, they don’t need to worry about whether it’s safe or not for their kids.

What are you most proud of as a company?
Moms always put kid’s priority ahead of them and forget about themselves. We emphasize that moms and kids are both important. Moms should please themselves too. To have keep the style they like, to have a soothing place from the chaotic parenting world. Once they’re happy, they’re in a good mood and have positive energy to take good care of the baby. Happy mama, happy baby! We’re coming from a different angle. We stand for moms. We care about moms.

What sets us apart from others: Being a mom doesn’t mean your style has to go out the window. Mamas shouldn’t have to choose between what’s safe for their kids and what’s stylish for them. This is why we have thoughtfully created this playmat that changes the way you look at children’s play space. It will be sure to keep moms stylish and help them slay their day.

– Aesthetic (modern design for adults, not the cute style for kids)
– Versatile (easy to assembly and break down, expandable and multiple ways to use)
– Premium (premium toxic-free material and high-quality control)

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Be creative to do forms of art.
