

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Stewart.
Rebecca, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
A little over a decade ago, at the age of 24, I never imagined I’d be the owner of the go-to household staffing agency is Los Angeles. I had graduated college and found myself nannying for an amazing high profile family. I learned a tremendous amount working with high-net worth, high-demanding parents and experienced first hand exactly what type of help these families needed in their homes to create a successful environment. Whether it was a nanny, a chef, a housekeeper, or a personal assistant, I was determined to become a matchmaker for families who were in need of additional staff. I picked up the phone, called my local bank, and asked for a small business loan. I was granted the loan within a few hours and launched VIP Nannies. After ten years, my vision to make the lives of families easier has come to life by directly working with over 5,000 families and counting. It has been an amazing learning experience every single step of the way.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a relatively smooth road. There have been what I like to call “learning lessons” along the way, but it’s all about perspective. Life can be full of struggles- heck LA traffic is a struggle, but if you look for the positive/good in each situation, I like to call it a learning lesson. A few lessons I have learned along the way:
1. Not everyone can afford a nanny, and that’s ok. I have a “heal the world” mentality. I want everyone happy & healthy. I want everyone to have a top-notch nanny, but what I quickly realized is that many people cannot afford a top-notch nanny, and some people do not value their nanny. Sounds crazy, right? But it’s true. It took me a while to learn this, and ultimately there are many alternative childcare options.
2. Hiring and Firing employees is not easy, but I’ve had to do this along the way.
