Meet June Shelton

Today we’d like to introduce you to June Shelton.

June, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m an actor from Detroit, MI. I have been acting for about eight years now. I started off making skits on YouTube, which later transitioned to me writing and producing my own short films. After that, I pretty much fell in love with it. I started auditioning for roles in commercials and films. I landed my first commercial in 2016 for Allegra. Then I went on to do voice over for Buffalo Wild Wings and a host of other films.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! I think we as creatives always struggle with self-doubt. In this game you have to have really thick skin, because you might get told “no” a thousand times before you finally hear that yes. There are two types of people, ones who hear no, get discouraged, and quit. And those that hear no and use it as motivation to keep pressing forward. It’s how you know who really wants it and who doesn’t. Because you better believe this game WILL weed them out.

Please tell us about your work.
I think my acting “specialty” would be comedy, because I’m naturally super witty and charismatic, plus I’m very good at improvisation. But don’t sleep on my dramatic acting skills. I can be super silly in one moment, then be super tense in the next to where you could hear a pin drop. I think that’s what sets me aside from others. You can actually see all of that in my new film “Project 8” premiering July 17th on Vimeo! So, look out for that.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moments come from anytime someone reaches out to me and says they saw a film I did, or they saw me on TV, or they post a video of them watching me on tv to social media. Those moments of support are priceless.
