Martin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started 15+ years ago by chance when a friend of mine showed me a product that he had found on a trip to China. A Silk filled comforter! Lightweight and Hypo-allergenic the perfect alternative to Down and a great source of relief to allergy sufferers and those that sweat a lot at night (women in menopause).
Immediately we created our own brand and after initially selling to independent retailers, we then got into some big box stores and the biggest internet retailer too (that begins with an A and does not need more advertising).
We got to a point where the bigger customers were making all the profits while we did all the work. And so we began to develop our own web presence offering a boutique-style service, where you can talk to someone (normally me) and get a personalized service from ordering to delivery and after.
We began with our Mulberry Silk filled Comforters and slowly added other bedding items too, to include Silk sheets, comforter covers and pillowcases. We also have eye masks which are a great accessory to a bed and especially for those that love there sleep. Not to mention the added benefit of helping to erase those unwanted eye-wrinkles (or so the experts say) or combating frizzy hair with our Silk pillowcases.
With the Covid-19 pandemic, we added Silk Face Masks (and nonwoven disposable face masks too).
We have supplied major hotels and yacht owners but mostly individual homeowners who want to turn their bedrooms into palaces without having the schlepp of going out to shop. We can custom make too if need be. Talk to me 🙂
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Manufacturing and generally being in business is never simple. Perhaps like life, it is not meant to be. But with patience, perseverance and the building of good long-lasting relationships, we found our way. The latest bump in the road (Covid-19) has hampered delivery especially out of China and we now ask our customers to be a little more patient for their orders to arrive.
Perhaps overall slower is better for all. Challenging as we have become used to an age of instant gratification. But for a hand made product made with love delivered across the world, we believe it is worth the wait!

We specialize in Mulberry Silk filled comforters and other Silk bedding items. We like to believe that we offer a personalized boutique-style service with having a person (normally me) to talk to at any time.
Our E-commerce store is easy to navigate and the process of ordering to taking delivery is seamless (although a little slower at the moment). I am proud of the great quality items we make from factories that tick all the boxes as far as manufacturing and staff management goes. And equally proud of the service we offer to match our great quality products.
And we have a solution for allergy sufferers and people who sweat a lot at night that works. As we like to say, don’t get down get up with silk 🙂
What were you like growing up?
I am not one for labels, but perhaps you could place me on the free-spirited side of things. Definitely adventurous which resulted in some great travels in my 20’s. Was an avid runner, taking to marathon running at an early age and even running ultra marathons (longest 87 km). Great way to learn perseverance. After completing high school, I went to university and eventually graduated in Hotel Management, where I learned the art of customer service.
Today, when I am not spending time with my family, I am happy on my Yoga mat, playing chess and reading.
