Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanté Presley.
Chanté, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m from Akron, OH. I initially moved to Los Angeles to further my career in modeling and acting but soon discovered that would only be the beginning of my journey. Since a little girl, I have always loved having in-depth conversations with pretty much anybody willing to listen. Family members literally hated babysitting me because I asked “too many” questions and I was always looking for a debate.
So much to that I later joined a debate team and people loved watching me tear down my opponent’s argument with class and grace. My love for conversation only grew and I wanted to do something with it, but I wasn’t quite sure what. People told me to consider law school, but that just wasn’t my passion. I always knew I wanted to be on the big screen and shortly after moving to California, I realized I wanted to have my own show. But not a scripted or reality TV show; a talk show! It wasn’t until I was laid off of work that I actually named my baby. And so it began, TaeTalkTV was born! I wanted my own platform to have open discussions that others are often too afraid to initiate. In a world ran by the internet, I want people to see that you can have a difference in opinion and still have healthy dialogue. It doesn’t have to be beef because we don’t see eye to eye, and it doesn’t necessarily mean we don’t have other views in common.
The show consists of me and a rotating panel discussing a wide range of different topic. The panelist are usually good friends of mine and/or people that have unique perspective to share. The topics start off fun and trendy and gradually we begin to dive into the much deeper stuff, like mental health, generational curses, and generational disconnects. What I really want people to take away from my show is that communication is very important, no matter what walk of life you come from and we all need to occasionally get out of the comfort of our own bubble! You can watch my show on YouTube at TaeTalkTV and don’t forget to subscribe. Come join the conversation!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There were many obstacles along the way. When I initially presented the idea to my friends everyone seemed stoked to be apart of it, but on my first shoot date, I had to reach out to all new people because my original panel bailed.
Also, with the first shoot, I hired a sound guy and the audio was completely butchered. I began to wonder if it was too difficult to create a show with little to no budget. I began investing in my own sound equipment to avoid future technical difficulties.
Please tell us about TaeTalkTV.
TaeTalkTV is a show where we discuss things happening in the world around us, whether it be lighthearted trendy topics or deep thought-provoking ones. My platform is a safe place for my cohost and I to express our honest thoughts and opinions in hopes that we open someones else’s mind up to new ideas. On TaeTalkTV we keep it 100% real and while you might not always agree with me, there will be someone you can relate to on my panel. I take pride in allowing everyone’s voice to be heard. I don’t care if you’re white, black, gay, liberal, or conservative. You have a right to be heard. I believe this world is capable of positive change, but it won’t happen if we don’t start the conversation. So let’s talk about it!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could start over, I would tell myself to calm down. I was so worried about TaeTalkTV being perfect that I was driving myself insane and not really taking time to simply enjoy the process.
