Meet Mark Young of DarkMark Photography in Carson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Young.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Mark. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was growing up my uncle and auntie were the photographers in my family. One day, my auntie asked me to take a picture, complimented me and the rest was history! I started to take photography seriously when I got fired from job back in 2018. My cousin gave me an offer I couldn’t refused and lended his camera to help grow my business as a photographer. I grabbed the camera, looked on YouTube to begin learning how to operate a camera, grabbed a few friends and tested my skills. Fast forward to a couple years later and the Dark Mark Photography brand has been in full effect!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As of right now, I’m still on the road to success encountering struggles along the way. One of the biggest struggles I faced was being self-taught. In my beginning stages my pictures used to come out a little blurry every time I took a picture. I would get so frustrated because I would take between 200 to 400 pictures and most of them were blurry.

Another struggle I overcame was separating myself from other photographers. I never want to be compared and or categorized to another photographer. If and when people book with me I want them to know that they are booking DarkMark Photography. The customer service, the quality and style of work I provide is something that I take very seriously. I pride myself in making sure my clients have fun and are comfortable every time we shoot. I owe it to my clients to always provide them with the top tier experience.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with DarkMark Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
DarkMark Photography makes me proud everyday knowing that I’m upholding a legacy, my legacy! DarkMark is a nickname my pops had growing up but, he passed away in 2006. He was and still is my biggest inspiration in life. My father taught me how to keep going and don’t quit. I took on the name DarkMark to honor my father and his legacy.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans are to continue developing my signature style and figure out new ways to grab more people’s attention. I’m looking forward to creating my own magazine that will feature people’s work such as; artists, chiefs, photographers, videographers, clothing brands, and much more!
