Meet Kelly Tittle of Fourteen Productions in Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Tittle.

Kelly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am originally from Half Moon Bay, CA. As a kid, I was all about performing and took advantage of every opportunity to do so. I moved to Los Angeles right after I graduated high school. Although I moved to LA specifically for acting I fell into T.V. hosting and it has been one of the best things that could have ever happened.

Long story short, you could say I accidentally auditioned for a T.V. hosting job. I thought it was an acting opportunity and when I got there, boy was I wrong. Although I had ZERO experience, I ended up booking the job. I channeled my inner Kelly Ripa and Ellen and pretended I had read a teleprompter a hundred times.

I ended up T.V. hosting for the next four years. I was lucky enough to interview actors, musicians, authors, etc. I realized that I love hearing and telling inspiring, thought-provoking stories.

This new-found realization led me to launch Fourteen Productions. A production company dedicated to highlighting issues and telling stories that prompt positive social change. We are almost done with our first documentary!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge/lesson I have faced in LA has been in releasing control. Things in my career have not happened in the way or time frame I would have assumed.

I’ve been in LA for eight years now and I have seen a lot of incredibly talented people give up because their career didn’t move as quickly or in the way they wanted…which is such a bummer!

I have had months where lots of new exciting career opportunities have occurred and then months where absolutely nothing has happened. Releasing control and enjoying the journey has been my biggest lesson. Even though it might sound cliché, looking back I would not change anything. I’m grateful for all the auditions I didn’t book and all the agents that rejected me. It really helped develop me as a person and has led me on the path I’m on right now which I’m loving.

Fourteen Productions – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Fourteen Productions was launched in 2019 to accompany our first film, Fair Cut. Fair Cut is a documentary that evaluates gender-based pricing within the hair industry, specifically in California. Why do women pay more than men for a haircut? Whether or not you believe in gender-based pricing, this film will make you think differently about your haircut.

Fourteen Productions is named after my Grandfather, Y.A Tittle. He was an NFL Hall of Fame quarterback and his number was 14.

A quarterback has to embody strength, leadership and must communicate effectively. A quarterback leads his team and relies on his team.

My hope is that Fourteen Production tells stories that embody these same characteristics.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m most proud of Fair Cut and Fourteen Productions.
