Art & Life with Andrea Desmond – Vellusi Lux

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Desmond – Vellusi Lux.

Andrea, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I, Los Angeles pop artist, founded Vellusi Lux in 2020. It is chic, feminine, and designed for ladies to bring out their best selves. As online shopping becomes more and more important during these uncertain times, Vellusi Lux offers the most on-trend, high-quality products within the US that are usually delivered within a week. It has been a lot of work to put everything together myself (involving many sleepless nights), but it is all worth it to hear the positive reactions coming in from both gals that discover the brand, and from scouts in the industry.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I make electropop music and founded my own clothing line in Los Angeles. As a music artist, I have a lot of creative energy. It makes sense at this phase in my career that I would expand my horizons and translate this creativity into my own clothing brand. I really care about the visual element of being an artist – I think it really makes an impact in representing who I am. My music has always been an outlet for me, but once I focused on developing the whole package of my brand as an artist, then I felt I was able to fire at all levels. Therefore, in creating Vellusi Lux, I wanted to create a brand for women just like me to feel empowered to express themselves and feel good about who they are in their everyday lives.

I was so inspired by the fact that Beyoncé has her own clothing line, Rihanna has her own makeup line, Kate Hudson and Reese Witherspoon have their own lines, and I thought why not follow in the footsteps of the musicians and actresses I look up to.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
I think that it is a challenge for artists to make a full living off of music streaming services alone. Thus, they need to find other ways to support themselves by expanding the scope of services and products that they have to offer in this world.
