Meet Shea Hardiman of Raising Lyons in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shea Hardiman.

Shea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My yoga journey started in 2012 when I was backpacking Europe. I had left a marketing job because I felt unfulfilled. I traveled around filming a documentary asking people what the meaning of life was. During this time, I signed up for a yoga teacher training. That is where I discovered my life purpose. I started teaching yoga which lead me to astrology and later on doula work.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I believe everything happens for a reason. I moved to LA from Massachusetts because I needed a change after my engagement ended. It was very hard to start over in a new place. I have always just followed my heart and trusted it would lead me the right direction. When I first moved to Santa Monica a friend told me life can happen to you or life can happen for you. I have always remembered that advice and tried to live by it.

Please tell us about Raising Lyons.
Raising Lyons is all about human connection. I am proud to offer something out into the world that I feel truly proud of. Yoga has changed my life, I honestly don’t know where I would be without it. Astrology has given me such a broad perspective. I used to judge and misunderstand people all the time. Now I truly understand that we are all on our own journeys and we can not compare ourselves to anyone but earlier versions of ourselves. The doula work has made me connect with my inner power. The human body is such an amazing thing. Birth is such a transformative journey. It is my privilege to support a birthing person through that process.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have honored myself in certain situations more. I have been a people pleaser. Someone who always puts others first. That has caused me to put myself last. In the past, I always wanted to be good and kind. I wanted to be humble and never cause any trouble. I wish I had stood up for myself more and not self sacrificed. I wish I had been prouder and more comfortable with who I was. It took me time to grow and find my own voice.
