Meet DJ Bamboozle

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Bamboozle.

DJ Bamboozle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I wanted to become a DJ my whole life. Music has been an important of my upbringing.

When my parents got divorced it was in my first year of junior college. I am the youngest in my family, I felt alone – I was totally devastated, I never saw the split of my parents coming.

I gathered the money I had left in my bank account, bought a plane ticket and flew to Uganda, Africa alone. I stayed and helped out in an orphanage. (New Hope Uganda)

The reason I did this is because I wanted to be near children that grew up with little to no parents. It was therapy for me.

I was supposed to stay for a week, ended up staying 45 days in Africa. While I was there, I met someone that graduated from Oral Roberts University, they highly suggested that I apply to the early childhood program at the University.

When I came to America, I applied I got in ORU – where I would later attend and study to become a kindergarten teacher. I stayed there for 2 1/2 years before dropping out 24 weeks before graduation- this is where the story begins.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing has been smooth about this journey. At times I would ask myself, “did I make the right decision?” What am I doing, What will I do if I don’t “make it.”

Do I go back to school? Everyone is laughing – am I doing this thing call life right? Where is my support group. Can I run back to my family.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I DJ. I play music, produce music travel all over the world to play music. One of the best jobs in the world.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Best part of being a child is no responsibility. The love of music, sports, playing with your friends, eating whatever you want with very little consequence. It’s so pure. You don’t realize if you’re rich or poor. Life is just sweet and harmless at that age. Building friendships and laughing seem to never end at that age.
