Today we’d like to introduce you to Makenzie Annalee.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was just three years old, my mother asked me if I wanted to start taking ballet classes. I squealed with excitement and responded, “Yes!” Ever since then, performing has been my passion. For most of my childhood, ballet was my life. I danced in several shows, attended ballet intensives, and spent whatever free time I had studying the movements of professional dancers. I loved ballet with all of my heart, but I wanted to do more. I remember sitting with my grandfather one day and listening to him play the guitar. He was playing “Over the Rainbow” and it sounded so beautiful to me that I had to sing along. I fell in love with music and started taking piano and singing classes at the age of eight. I was fascinated by the way the piano sounded when I played it, and how freeing it felt to sing. I delved into the art of music and voice and eventually began to compose my own songs.
When I entered high school, I auditioned for a musical at a local theatre company. After getting in, I spent three rigorous months in rehearsals learning songs and choreography… and I loved every minute of it. Afterwards, I participated in many other musicals, as well as teen talent shows and acapella groups. I even got a job as a professional magician’s assistant. At this point, I knew that performing was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. At the end of high school, I was accepted into AMDA College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Los Angeles. I am currently studying and living the dream! I have the opportunity to do what I love every day and learn from amazing teachers. Since moving to LA, I have had the opportunity to model and work with other creatives in the area. I’m excited to continue performing after I graduate and hope to inspire as many people as possible.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Coming from a broken family was not easy. My parents divorced when I was ten years old, and I looked to the performing arts as an outlet. It was the only way I could think to express myself through difficult times. Although my family was going through many problems, they encouraged me to keep focusing on the arts. Without their continuing support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. In spite of it all, I learned that you cannot choose what happens to you, but you can choose where to go from there.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I believe myself to be an all-around performer. I am an actor, singer, dancer, and model. There is a lot of talent in LA, but what uniquely sets me apart from others is my authenticity. I believe that expressing the truth is the most important thing when telling a story. Whether on stage or on camera, I strive to be as genuine as possible. Being true to myself allows me to be truthful to others and helps me make a real connection with the audience.

Besides all the wonderful instructors I’ve had along the way, my mom has been my biggest supporter from the start. From driving me to ballet classes to helping me make big life choices, she’s been there for me through it all. She’s given me the strength and confidence I need to perform. She has taught me to not only get through the day but to thrive through the day. I am grateful for her undying love and support and am blessed to have such an inspiring person in my life.
