Meet Justin Whitesel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Whitesel.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Ever since I was a child, I never believed in the notion that you had to settle. I also never believed that people are only destined for “one” life or “one career”. Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment, would you capture it? Or just let it slip?

I’ve done world tours as a guitar player, Art Directed for some the biggest brands in Advertising, Published Photographer. Now fashion designer in Esports. Find something that inspires you. Learn it. Live it. Be it. You own it, you better never let it go.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road. My ideas and my art is my entire income. There’s no backup, and there never should be. If you’re not invested fully in your creative juices and literally coat yourself in them to marinate on, then you shouldn’t call yourself an artist. If don’t create, I don’t eat (mom’s) spaghetti.

My trust has been shattered by shady managers, labels, and agencies. But guess what? Life isn’t fair. How you recover defines you. We all have demons, we all have issues, we all have addictions. Balance it with your life, because if you’re looking for something steady, this ain’t it.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I have played for musical acts such as LoveHateHero (Warner / Ferret Music), Eyes Set To Kill (Century Media), XO Stereo (RED / Sony), etc. In the advertising / creative realm, I’ve worked on the Microsoft XBOX brand along with Marvel Studios and Oculus Rift. I have won awards for my campaigns and executions and have been subsequently known as “the go to” for any creative social advertising in the gaming realm.

I am now working for ULT brand and we have just developed the first fashion-forward clothing line in Esports for Call Of Duty / Call of Duty League known as TILT SHIFT (Avail now).

I am also returning to music as a solo artist going by the name MoodyX.

I shoot pixels (now published) under the name JustinShootsMoods, as well.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The ability to be able to lose yourself in the music, the moment.
