Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose “Jay” Pineda.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jose. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Believe it or not, I was never into video production or editing. I know I’m a creative person and I’ve always had an imagination but just never really thought about film in that way. I didn’t initially begin with the intention to start a business, it was for fun at first. I always just liked to own a business, business intrigued me, but also never knew where to get started and what business I wanted to own. I saw other people doing stuff on YouTube and thought it would be cool to do the same. So I learned how to edit on YouTube and got this simple and basic Cannon vlogging camera. The G7X. I still have it and use it for almost all of my work.
So there I was not really knowing what to do with this camera or what edit. I knew I had to get my life together and I needed to make more money, so the motivation was there. I needed to get some cash and fast. So I used the tools and resources I had: a camera and a laptop to edit. I asked people I knew and people who had businesses if I could make them a marketing video or promo video for free. I needed to get experience learning how to make eye-catching promo videos, so I copied everything and anything I saw online and on TV.
I started to get phone calls and messages from people that saw my work and liked it. They would ask, “how much for a video?” or “how much for this kind of video?” I never really put a price on my work, just started to charge people what I thought was fair. It was really cheap at first. I didn’t make a whole lot at first but it definitely helped.
I started to collaborate with Stevie Dub where I got to edit some music videos for him. A friend of his, Valentina, reached out to him about his videos so he referred me to her company where I got a chance to produce a mini-documentary series called The Joy of Giving. We go out and cover all kinds of charity events and interview the founders and how they started their non-profits. It was really inspiring to meet these business owners talk about how they got started and where they came from.
I’m still currently working with them and I have other clients I work closely with like Chris Loos Media and Bryan Casella.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It used to be time I struggled with. I wanted to and needed to get ahead so bad that I tried to juggle so much.
My FT job, my side gig, video work, my son, my personal life. I always felt like time was against me or there wasn’t enough time to get everything done.
It was like an assembly line. As soon as I finished on one project and had the rest to do, another project would come in.
I’m doing a lot better now with time management.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Can’t Stop Productions – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My business has evolved from just doing promo videos for businesses to now making brand story videos and really working on brand recognition.
Everyone has a story to tell. Everyone as something to share and I specialize in creating content for people to share anything they want to share.
Bryan Casella is a real estate agent I work with, he shares with people how he got started as an agent and the struggles he faced and the tips and wisdom as he grew in his career. He has a podcast and a coaching program for any walks of life, not just other real estate agents and he aims to help people in their career and get ahead in life. I shoot and edit those videos for him.
Chris Loos is a radio personality with over 20 years in the radio industry and now works at Beats 1 Radio. He’s seen everyone come up on the music industry and now he’s sharing with everyone, specifically new and aspiring artists how to come up in the music game. With his wisdom, he hopes to inspire the youth to be creative and go after your goal and dreams of becoming an artist or producer. I help produced and distribute content for him.
Stevie Dub is an artist that shares his stories coming up and how to deal with mental health as an up and coming artist. We shoot content for that.
I’m very proud to say I work with unique individuals that have something really special to share and I’m the one that they count on to create these videos and get this message across.
So aside from promo and marketing videos for businesses, I truly enjoy producing and creating inspiring and meaningful content for companies and personal brands.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Growth and scaling up.
For my personal brand, the Can’t Stop brand: I have a story to tell. I didn’t go to school for video production. I didn’t have money to invest in a business. Anyone and everyone can do what I did. I’m surprised all this happened so fast for me. If you think about it, three years is nothing. I’m not as successful as I know I can be but I’m in a much better position financially than where I was before all this happened. But if it happened for me, it can happen for anyone. So I’m currently working on that.
I’m revamping everything and re-branding my business. I’m going to hire people and show others how to film and edit. I need to separate my personal brand and my business so that’s changing soon.
The vision that ties in with my passion for helping people’s brand and business grow is helping the average Joe be the person they have the potential to be through video. So if you’re a chef and you want to start a YouTube channel showing people how to cook but you don’t know where to start, that’s where I come in. I will help produce, shoot, edit and grow your channel.
