Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Covington.
Shaun, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Harlem, NYC and raised by two black parents who really did NOT know why they’re child was so crazy and rebellious, on top of being problematic in the household with endless energy to clap back. LOL, but I was raised to be who I wanted to be without railings. Now after a lot of seeking I feel myself falling into what I feel like I’m here to do, which is to help people heal. I wear many different hats in order to do that, but my favorite hat to wear is that of a musician. My second is fitness as a personal trainer, and my third is a teacher of Meditation.
Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve always been a hustler, with multiple ways of making money and I’ve always had enough for what I need. But I’ve come to understand my patterns and habits and constantly striving to evolve in my lifestyle choices in order to see the results I want to see in my life.
Please tell us about Arashi SupaNova.
So I’ve always loved these three worlds that are at the epicenter of my life which is: Music, Fitness and Meditation. I’ve studied them for a long time together and separately so I wanted to incorporate them into a cohesive process. I’ve been producing music and singing for about five years, been in fitness as a group and personal trainer for about four years, and have studied taught and practiced meditation for four years. I wouldn’t say I’m a company just yet but I’m getting my foundation for the things that drive me everyday to also be able to fit my lifestyle and pay my bills. I’m just different, I do things differently not cause I try to but because I am. So that goes with everything that I do or create. But there will be a story behind everything I do and every word I say has meaning.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I feel like I will always be in demand. People always want new music to keep creating memories too. This day in age people are caring more and more about not just looking good but feeling good and working it out and pushing through pain to grab the reward on the other side. More and more this social media world will make you feel like you’re missing out on the world and losing time when it should be doing the opposite. Through meditation we can reclaim the inner peace that lives within all of us. At the end of the day, if you’re not at peace with yourself nothing will be right in your universe.
