Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Silvers.
Candace, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My father, Phil Silvers, was a very well know comedian. Growing up, I saw him on television and in front of me. He was never any different. He’d be standing next to me and we’d be watching him on TV, and they’d be the same person. Something in there caused me to lose the idea that is there is a difference between “reel” and “real”. That understanding began to transcend every area of life.
As an adult, friends always asked me for advice or for information. It was pleasantly surprising that what I shared with them seemed to work, and their lives got better. At some point though, I had to tell people that I couldn’t keep giving them all this time. I was a single mother with four kids. I had to work! But they just wouldn’t leave me alone, and they asked if I’d lead a class. I said no. The more I said no, the more they offered, and they more they offered the more I said no. Finally, I said, “Fine, get me clients, a space, material to teach with, and I’ll start”, knowing that it would finally send them all away. A week later they had it all and I began.
I branched out from acting into behavioral classes because I began to see that there is no difference. On one side, I’m teaching an actor how to see the lines on a page as “real”. On the other I’m teaching a human being how to see their obstacles as “reel”, and then to be willing to risk taking an action against that to go beyond their own small minded walls that feel so “real” to them. Both are exactly the same. One is teaching you to see the obstacles as an illusion, and the other is teaching you how to place the obstacles in front of you.
For the first two years, I cried after every class, knowing that no one would ever come back and I wasn’t good enough. Why would people be coming to me? But they just kept coming. Clients would ask if I had a rolodex, just to let you know how long ago this was, of contacts they could reach out to for me, flyers they could hand out, anything at all to bring more clients in so that they could take more classes. Of course, I didn’t have any of that. So, they started, of their own free will, putting this stuff together for me, and people kept coming.
Everything I teach and everything I do felt like it came out of happenstance. Accidental success for me. Except the more I looked into it, the more I saw that it wasn’t an accident at all. It was the basic integrity of success. The causation of pure creation, not more mind or more fear. The more I watched my world happen, the more I was able to just gently give that information to others, and then I watched their lives alter.
It has always only been my commitment to help the people in front of me. I wake up every morning and be of service to whoever is in front of me, and it is what has grown this company into the powerhouse that it is today. What I teach are mathematical equations that cause success. I don’t teach good ideas. This work is old world, not new age. It has always been here
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never been a smooth road. That’s what has made it so much fun. I’d be bored to death if everything just worked out every day. What calls me into my own life are impossibilities, and the inability to say no. This double negative requires me to find out how small my fears are as I take actions beyond them.
My company has shut down several times because I couldn’t see a way to keep it open in pure integrity. In the inability to move it forward, I was able to shift and come back even stronger.
One year, the office space I was using doubled my rent. As a single mom with four kids there was no way I could afford it. It caused me to have to look at doing same thing differently. I told all my students, “I’m terribly sorry. I love you all but at the end of this month we’ll be shutting down”. But I had four kids, and not feeding them wasn’t an option, so that month, I moved the entire business into my home and opened the company back that way. Some clients had even painted my office the exact same color that the studio was to make me feel more comfortable about how we had moved the business home. So, the impossibility just shows me village and family and community and one hand helping another. The impossibility became one of my greatest assets.
All of the trials and tribulations led straight up a staircase to heaven. At 55 years old, it is a joy and a privilege to get to look back 25 years at an impossible journey that just simply unfolded. When we’re reading a book from the beginning to the end, we can’t see where it’s going, but from the end looking back, it all makes perfect sense. Today, looking back shows me it’s been a worthy life.
Candace Silvers Studios – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I teach people how to go beyond their most maximum self. Whether they’re using their physical health, emotional health, company, family, or whatever it is that’s in their way, I teach them how to create an awareness that allows it to become their way. I see people that are dying of cancer, that are coming out of jail, that are working to turn million dollar companies into five million dollar companies, that are going through divorces, that are out of work actors. Whatever the story line, it doesn’t matter. The journey is based in the steps, in the equations that cause success, and this is what I teach.
I specialize in equations that allow actual causation, not more thinking about thinking about thinking. I don’t tell people what to do, what’s good or what’s right. I speak to them in a way that causes them to shift in the moment. They then look out into their lives and see differently, stepping into that, success occurs.
To me, success is joy, fulfillment, the ability to serve our community. The more attention you have on what you can do for others, the more the self knows it’s already fulfilled. It’s already successful. When you check on a problem, a problem arises. When you check on a possibility, a possibility is always there. The more we help others, the more we see we can, the more we feel successful. It’s not an act we do, it’s an experience we have.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Helping the people in the front of me is what I am proud of. Everything I just talked about, creating success for the clients that come to me. It’s a one of a kind company and I’m most proud of that.

I’ve been seeing Candace for her classes for about 3 years now and gotten to travel with her and her students to the other side of the world on a few of her retreats. Her work is incredible and invaluable–the kind of stuff that once you start to apply it personally, you wish everyone could know about these tools, because people would be so much more alive and connected and joyful.

I came to Candace while going through one of the toughest times in my life. I thought maybe she could help me just not feel so awful. Little did I know that meeting Candace would change my entire life. Years later, I wake up everyday to the life of my dreams, and I know that I can point to working with Candace as where that all started. So excited to see you honored with this article Candace! Best wishes.
