Meet Victoria D. Wells

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria D. Wells.

Victoria, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started acting “professionally” after attending the underrated communal college named Chaffey in 2014. I had my theatrical debut as, what an enthusiastic eight-year-old critic claimed, “the hilarious” Dorrine in Tartuffe (dir. Kelly Ford). I traveled far and wide across what most Angelonians do not know as the Inland Empire, along the I-10 freeway to Culver City to study closely with Lena Harris. As I continued to study business marketing, I explored many avenues of art, photography, modeling, dance, and comedy. I created, produced and co-hosted the podcast Tales from the Inland Empire, go ahead, look it up, it’s exactly what you think it’s about.

In 2018 I landed the role of Senara in the dark thriller Hollow Hour (dir. April Mendoza) which lead me to meet the creative team NightShade Collective. These were some talented ladies and we created some magical, conceptual photos, music videos, and branded content. I was fortunate enough to meet a comical angel named Naz Red who plays the devil and wrote the role of Miss Vashy for me in the upcoming anthology Debbie and the Devil (2020). He also encouraged and supported me to voice not one or even two, but three different characters in his animation.

I am co-creative at the Sons & Daughters Studio in Downtown LA where we produce, what I consider very dope, branded content for fashion brands, musicians, and host the Wild 7 Podcast. I recently wrapped a dark comedy thriller The Influencer (dir. Meghan Weinstein) releasing this year which was made up of a mostly female cast and crew. Wow, progress, and I am somehow a part of it. I choreographed and danced to a bio by Fino Franco called ‘En Accion’ which is set to drop in the new few months. I am currently auditioning and curating my personal brand in Los Angeles (aren’t we all?) where I’m looking forward to writing and producing and starring in more content throughout 2020.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life has a humorous way of introducing yourself to you. It usually comes in uncomfortable growth and a lot of the trials I’ve been through have exposed those truths. They have also aided me in my journey with finding who I am as an actor and creative. They say comedy is tragedy plus time so cheers to a hilarious life!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My goal is to expand my role as an actress, model, creative director, and producer. Creating original, high-quality content is truly what matters to me. Whether I am acting in a movie, hosting a podcast, or creative directing a shoot I want to bring my taste and aesthetic to curate the best possible product. An important goal is being able to invoke emotion through different mediums of art and incorporating meaningful content intended provoke a ripple of thought.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Consistency and determination are two keywords in my vocabulary for the upcoming year. There is so much more I can always do so pushing myself to maximize my time in this world and attain as much knowledge as I possibly can. As the godfather of underground said, “health, wealth, and knowledge of yaself.” – KRS1.
