Meet Tambra Gutschall, D.C. of Axis Chiropractic in Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tambra Gutschall, D.C.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Like many people I was introduced to chiropractic by way of an automobile accident when I was 18. I was amazed at how my body healed with chiropractic care. That first auto accident was followed by 7 more. Somewhere along the line of receiving chiropractic care and the miraculous healing it brought to my body, I knew this is what I was meant to do. I knew that I wanted to help others experience the miracles I had experienced. However, I wasn’t able to quit working and go to school so I worked by day and took classes by night for close to 20 years until I had my undergrad completed. Then at the ripe young age of 40 I was able to attend Chiropractic College. I quit my jobs, moved from Sacramento to the San Francisco Bay Area, and began my postgraduate chiropractic education at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California.

During my education, I was honored with being able to go to Nicaragua twice on chiropractic mission trips. Under the supervision of licensed Doctors of Chiropractic, we spent about 4 days each trip adjusting the hundreds of people who came to us. It was so amazing and inspirational to experience the magic of touching the lives of so many people. I still feel that magic every day I get the privilege of doing this work.

Following graduation, I decided it was time for me to leave Northern California and begin my life here in sunny SoCal. Why SoCal? Well when I lived in San Francisco during my education, I loved living so close to the ocean but wanted an ocean to which I didn’t need to wear my coat to visit. I came down south during one of my breaks and fell in love with LA. After a couple years of working for other doctors, I was able to purchase my practice here in Burbank. I am so grateful to have the privilege of doing that which I love and believe is my purpose. I meet many amazing people from all walks of life. Each person adds to my life. How awesome is that!?

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road? There have been ups and downs. Not with being a chiropractor, but with being a business woman. Business is an area in which I had no experience until I went into business. That made some of the lessons a bit rocky and sometimes expensive. Would I trade it for anything else? No. Well in hindsight, I would have learned about being in business and hired a business coach before going into business. There is so much more to being in business than just opening your doors. There are rules and regulations to follow. I was smart enough to hire a CPA from the beginning. On the up side, I get to go to work every day and do that which I love…be a doctor of chiropractic. It allows me to engage with people. I get to run my business my way. I get to set my own schedule, and I get to bring my dog to work with me.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Axis Chiropractic – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business is Axis Chiropractic in Burbank, CA. As I said previously, I am a Doctor of Chiropractic. I specialize in delivering a chiropractic adjustment to free up the body’s nervous system for each person’s optimal health goal. A really cool side effect of chiropractic care is pain relief which is the #1 reason people visit me. I work with each individual toward their health goals. I spend time with my patients not just delivering the chiropractic adjustment, but we discuss lifestyle such as exercise, eating habits, meditation/relaxation, happiness and fun activities. Both our bodies and lives need balance. I work with people who want to experience their best life possible from their perspective. I encourage my patients to be in touch with their bodies and make decisions that will enhance their lives.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
My favorite thing about living in the Los Angeles area is the energy of people following their dreams. Whether someone is working full or part time in their dream job, they are out there working toward achieving their dreams. It’s also a very creative environment in which to live and work. It can be a very magical place. What do I like least? The traffic or should I say the craziness it brings out in some people. Traffic is a huge reality here, so I don’t get why it seems to bring out the worst in some people. It’s just something we all who choose to live or work in cities need to deal with and be amused by. That is why I live in the same neighborhood in which I work.

I have been a patient of Tami’s for nearly three years. I have seen at least for other Chiropractors in my life time and no one does it like Tami at Axis! I always leave my adjustment appointment feeling soooo relaxed and pain free. I have a real sense of well being. Tami is a darling.
