Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Whew chile, lol! This road of mine has not been a walk in the park. From being raised as the oldest in a single parent household, to losing ‘My Mema’, who was my biggest cheerleader, all the way to losing my bestie of 10 years as a freshman in college. I believe it’s safe to say after living through these experiences, I’ve learned the true meaning of perseverance. However, I’ve always been the one to look at the glass half full versus half empty. Having that outlook alone has helped me to navigate through situations and pour even more into the music.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a Billboard Charting recording artist, songwriter, performer, vocal producer, and educator. I specialize in being what I call a “song stylist” for all genres. I enjoy intertwining sounds from different genres and time periods to create authentic, FEEL GOOD music!
Authenticity is key, and it’s the thing I’m most proud of. It’s what separates me from other artists because I never feel the need to fit in. Forced energy is not my type of energy, and true art flows freely. The more I look inward, the more I find myself as an artist. Once you finally reach that place there’s really no need to operate outside of that. You find the best, most solid sound in that place because it’s you. Let the music speak from there.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as doing what you love and being surrounded by those who genuinely love and support you on your journey.
