Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2012, I migrated From Colombia to the United States to start Aguavida Premium Water. Migrate and at the same time create a company was pretty demanding. Moving to a new city, not knowing a lot of people and start to create a manufacturing business was pretty challenging, but in the last seven years our brand has gone from concept to establish partners of supermarkets like wholefoods Markets.
Since I was a kid I was involved with water, my family owns a company that manufactures water treatment plants, all the sports that I did as a kid was in water, I’m a swimmer and scuba diver and here in LA, I surf. So with that background and the help of my family knowledge, I started Aguavida Premium Water.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Owning a business has its ups and downs, and it’s not going to be a smooth road, you need resilience and determination because you are gonna have to solve problems all the time. Specially in a manufacturing business where you are offering a product and a service at the same time. But it’s an amazing learning process every single stage has its struggles, at the beginning was related to getting certifications and start opening the market in LA and the US, now we are in a growing stage and we are facing another type of struggles getting more funding and expanding operations.
Aguavida Premium Water – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Aguavida strives to reinvent the bulk water business, our trendy brand and technological innovations allow us to offer not only premium & alkaline water to our customers but also an experience that enables us to capture new markets.
Currently, we have two lines of business. In Los Angeles we have home and office delivery service of premium and alkaline water and our main plant is located in the Valley, and we serve almost all LA area, Malibu and some Ventura County Neighborhoods. We offer 3 and 5 gallon bottles in BPA free and 3 Gallon in glass, Our concept is local production and distribution to diminish our environmental footprint. And we don’t bottled less than 3 gallon, so all our bottles are reusable. We are a certified green business and a pro Ocean company.
Our second line of business is the manufacturing of alkaline and premium water vending machines. Our machines are certified in CA and We currently have machines operating throughout California and the US, as well as in locations without access to clean water like Venezuela or communities that want to diminish the plastic consumption, Like a local neighborhood in The Bahamas. I truly believe that you can create a business that serves your community and the environment at the same time, and that’s our main goal. To provide clean pure water to the community but in the most environmental way.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success noways is a pretty difficult term and seems that we are rethinking what success means in the US and the world, for me personally is to fulfill my purpose in life (and that can change because we are always learning and growing). It doesn’t matter if you are an artist, and entrepreneur or a teacher, but your purpose needs to leave a good mark for humanity, small or big, but basically collaborate for a better planet. There are a lot of makers that I look for, and I admire a lot of people, But an entrepreneur women like Ellen Fisher is a great example, of resilience, a great design purpose creating clothing but helping the environment with the processes that they use, and not forgetting the kindness and big heart that she has with her employees.
