Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalija Nalbandian.
Natalija, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Latvia; a country famous for its great European baking traditions. I grew up baking and my hobby turned into my passion. Twelve years ago, I came to the United States with a dream to one day own my own bakery. After going to school and working at some of the best bakeries, I am happy to say that my dream has become a reality! I can say that no matter what kind of business you own, there are always challenges. Some days I am quite happy with how things are going and other days it feels like nothing is going your way. At the end of the day, it is the challenges that push me to keep going. There are plenty of wonderful places out there that provides us with amazing baked goods, whether they be sweet or savory. Everyone has their own unique touch, mine happens to be authentic homemade European baked goods.
The purpose of my business and my story is to provide casual travel to all who want a taste of Europe without getting on a plane. Maybe you cannot afford to fly to Italy but you can come by Savour Bakery and enjoy a taste of a cannoli! Welcome to little Europe.
Has it been a smooth road?
My challenge is that I want to bake everything! I mean I want to invent recipes, mix recipes, and experiment with recipes. I just don’t have the time to do it all. Even when I come home, I am looking through books and browsing the internet for new ideas.
Another challenge is to be a mother, a wife, and a business owner. It can be quite heavy at times but of course, I have my lovely family to support me.

What sets Savour Bakery apart from others is that it is a little bit of everything. We cover almost all of European recipes when it comes to baked goods. Pick any country from Europe and we will be more than happy to bake it! Most times we have customers visit and ask us if we can recreate or make a European baked goods/cake because no one in the area is willing to do so. Savour Bakery is more than willing to do so because this is what we are about. Authentic European bakery.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Orange County is quite the melting pot of ethnicities. I am happy to see how diverse it is here. To open a business in Orange County you have to be open-minded and willing to try different kinds business growing techniques constantly and see what works for you and your customers.
One thing I would like to see an improvement on is support for a smaller business.
