Meet Tino Griffin of Consistent Cutz in Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tino Griffin.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your store.
Now I was born in Chicago Illinois. In 1986 as an only child, my incredible mother moved us to Long Beach, California. I’ve always been a person who cares about people and the community. In High School, I’ve always like to make people laugh, smile, etc., and was fascinated with different hairstyles when cutting hair and knowing that you can be an impact in that person’s life. When I see that the customer is smiling and tells me Tino wow I’m speechless and they give you a hug like you have lifted up there confidence too an all New, I know I have accomplish my job.

So After cutting hair from the garage, It begin with a customer complementing that my cutz was very Consistent. So I went to barber and cosmetology school to learn all I can. I continue to maintain my barber license as a full-time barber and have been cutting hair for over 22 years. It’s a blessing and my reviews backs it ups from Yelp, Booksy.net Etc. I just praise God and so grateful. Now I’m a proud owner of Consistent Cutz! Barber Shop where the client’s needs are First at all times, in all ways, each and every time consistently. Please come and allow me to share my gift with you.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, not there is never a smooth road. Me and my family making a decision to sacrifice financially by allowing me to go to Barber School for a 1 year. Working in different barbershop with many different attitudes sitting in the barbershop waiting hoping praying someone will give you an opportunity to allow you to cut their hair. Keeping your confidence while sitting in the shop for 8 hours and not having anyone sit in your chair.. once I have built up enough clients to step out in faith to Find a location and praying it’s a good location. After getting the location, I went through a struggle with the owner of them wanting to put in floors that did not match my perspective dealing with owners that. Did not always want it to follow the codes for the City of Long Beach but after standing firm it my way. From there I had to battle the city of Long Beach to work with me regarding the plumbing structure because the owners of the building did not have a blueprint or I and without that blueprint there was already $5,000 invested that was looking like a lost so after a 4 to 5 months delay and believing that it was time to move in all my equipment got water damage from storage and from all of the setbacks.

Another $5.000 was spent. Overall total spent to have my desires to come forth for the second time around $17.000. Yes my 1st Barbershop Same name actually started in 2007 before I closed it down in 2010 and move to Arlington in Texas.. after living in Arlington for about 11 months coming back home to Long Beach California I decided to go to school and become a pharmacy technician I accomplished that but after working in the industry as a medical assistance it was not for me everyday for about a year-and-a-half I’m not cutting hair I realize I am a barber and was blessed to retain half of my clientele praise God and so and now cutting hair a running consistent cut again for the second time around and last time around. I just advice upcoming barbers.. again for me Learning what works best for your clients will take you far into this industry that I love with a passion. With new clients and to keep providing a service that they are happy with learning and really understanding that customer service goes a long way and giving them a great Cut is CONSISTENTCUTZ WAY.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Consistent Cutz – what should we know?
My customer’s service is outstanding. I provide a service that the customer is 1st and heard. My environment makes the customer feels like Know one else hair I cut but there’s, lol. I’m most proud of that my Name Consistentcutz actually means what it stands for customers always says Tino you are Truly Consistent and when the customer has appointment, they say they can’t believe they do not have to wait. That’s what appointment is for Example if a customer appointment is at 1pm And it’s 1pm your chair is ready!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
GOD 1ST. My wife Ariana Griffin and  my Pastor who prayed with me for me and told me that this will be a blind faith walk. Couple of special customers Art. Tutson, Keenan Stanley, Lori Stanley, Dion Johnson, Dave Edwards, Patrick Dyson, Peggy and Gary Bockman. Kyfox Diamond Edge he offered to sponsor me if needed to represent his hair product I was very honored because he believes in my work. Also, Darly Thompson of scissors Clinic have always told me I do great work and that I should try to take it to another level from my days of being in the garage cutting hair. I have a lot to be grateful for and so many people to say thank you to my clients without them there is NO Consistentcutz.
