Meet Dominic Friesen of Bridge and Tunnel Communications in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Friesen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dominic. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Before entering the dynamic world of PR, I served as the Managing Editor of a national monthly men’s magazine — I strongly believe that ALL PR professionals must work “on the other side” to be effective at their jobs. Prior to opening my own agency, I ran the Entertainment Division for SSA Public Relations’ offices in LA, NY and London as the agency’s PR Manager. I was also a team leader at top-ranked corporate PR powerhouse Hill & Knowlton where I oversaw the launches of Bluetooth technology in the US and integration of texting into mainstream lifestyle on behalf of Motorola.

Now, with two decades of experience in the Public Relations/Communications sector, and founder of Bridge and Tunnel Communications Founder I have established and maintain strong relationships with media contacts from coast to coast and around the world. Bridge and Tunnel Communications provides ongoing personal PR services to a diverse roster of award-winning personalities from TV, Film, Music, Sports, and other industries. In addition, Bridge and Tunnel Communications has executed dozens of campaigns on behalf of authors and their books that debuted on the New York Times Best-Sellers List, Los Angeles Times Best-Sellers List, and other coveted achievements in publishing. Bridge and Tunnel Communications maintains a roster of leading experts ranging from Legal and Politics to Addiction and Medicine. Our clients are regularly featured in top tier media including: The View, The Today Show, Good Morning America, ABC World News, CNN, Dr. Phil, Dateline, Fox News Channel, E! News, Entertainment Tonight, Howard Stern, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, New York Post, New York Daily News, Los Angeles Times, TMZ, Cosmopolitan, GQ, Vanity Fair, Shape, InStyle, and many more. Bridge and Tunnel Communications has an unparalled reputation for being strategic and results-driven. Bridge and Tunnel Communications also specializes in grassroots marketing and special events for a diverse slate of clientele from across the lifestyle spectrum, including: health and fitness, food and beverage, style and beauty, and travel and hospitality. Our innovative campaigns capture the attention of media outlets, influencers, and target consumer groups.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The world of media has and continues to evolve not just daily — but literally by the minute. Outlets are being shuttered or shift towards the New Media Frontier, reporters and producers are frequently moving, target audiences are more widespread, etc. Public Relations professionals must be diligent about countless daily shifts and changes affecting our jobs, clients’ businesses and the world we live in.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My very first job after graduating from Whittier College was working in the Communications Department for tech start-up, GameWorks, a division of DreamWorks. My boss, Melissa took a chance on me and I worked 80+ hours/week to not only learn the industry but help her deliver results. Later, that experience played a huge role in landing a coveted job at powerhouse Hill & Knowlton.

I think Melissa would be proud of my career to-date.
